What We're Looking For:
We're seeking a Senior Director, Engineering to lead the Marketplace Growth Team. Marketplace Growth includes up-funnel organic marketing content, the catalog of course and program content available, search and discovery on the platform, and matching the right offering to the right learner. This is a technical team focused on work that will grow and enable our software to work with multiple systems. We need a technical leader who can define an engineering vision and help navigate their teams toward this destination.
This role and team will be hugely impactful on the business, unlocking many more opportunities for our learners and partners.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Maintaining and evolving the architecture and technology that supports edx.org including organic content and marketing data, course catalog, search and discover, recommendations, content onboarding for open courses, and contributions to open edX open-source codebase.
  • In partnership with product leadership define technology, vision, strategy, architecture and roadmap that meets learner needs and is continuously aligned to and enables product strategy.
  • Partnering with Data Science and Product to design and run tests.
  • Delivering software capabilities needed for the business line.
  • Continuously improving the operations of the team.
  • Contributing to the advancement of the culture of Open Courses & Marketplace business line.
  • Leading the team and pressure testing if thinking is sound.
  • Leading engineering vision for Content and bringing it to life.


Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • Engineering background
  • Experience leading multiple software engineering teams (no coding expected day to day)
  • Experience coaching, training and mentoring people managers and individual contributors

  • Experience leading a MarTech technology organization.
  • Experience integrating multiple technology stacks in a post-M&A organization.
  • Experience with business intelligence, data science and data products.
  • Experience building software products for a SaaS Education Technology company.

The anticipated base salary for this role is ($175,000 - $250,000) with potential bonus and equity eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
