Senior Data Engineer, Supply Chain Systems
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Senior Data Engineer, Supply Chain Systems to join our IT Team based in Boston, MA. This Team is responsible for building end to end supply chain planning and execution software that includes forecasting, inventory optimization, scenario planning and simulations.
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded technologist with a passion for building innovative business solutions with relational database and advanced analytics technologies. Experience delivering data solutions – from system setup to development to business solution delivery – is critical. The Data Engineer should be keeping up with the latest developments and should be able to connect technical capability with business need. Programming experience is also paramount.
On this team you will have opportunity and autonomy to build critical in-house solutions from the ground up, which will transform the way we maintain and build our supply chain systems. You will be constantly challenged to think out of the box and disrupt the status quo.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for the maintenance, improvement, cleaning, and manipulation of data in the business’s operational and analytics databases. The Data Engineer works with the business’s software engineers, data scientists, and data warehouse engineers to understand and aid in the implementation of data requirements, analyze performance, and troubleshoot existent issues.
- Responsible for designing and implementing data transformation and migrations across different databases (such as MS SQL Server and Postgres).
- Perform ad-hoc analyses of data and writes SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Troubleshoot data issues within the business and across the business and present solutions to these issues.
- Design data models, staging tables to enable advanced analytics solutions for Supply Chains functions such as: forecasting, inventory optimization, scenario planning and simulations.
- Mentor junior/entry level Data Engineers.
What you'll need:
- BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Information Technology.
- 7+ years of experience working with database and data management tools and systems.
- 7+ years of experience working with T-SQL, clover/SSIS/Informatica, and data warehouse concepts.
- System management expertise with monitoring, disaster recovery, backup, automated testing, automated schema migration, and continuous deployment.
- Hands-on experience with statistical software such as: Python, R, SAS, Stata, or SPSS.
- Position may require travel
