Our Opportunity:

Are you a networking guru that has a passion to provide cutting-edge connectivity options in a multitude of networking environments? If you have deep knowledge of public cloud networking and enjoy being part of an engineering team that always wants to learn about what’s next in the networking world, we have the opportunity for you!

Chewy is hiring a Senior Cloud Network Engineer in either Boston, MA, Minneapolis, MN, Bellevue, WA, or Dania Beach, FL. As Chewy expands our presence in the public cloud space, we are seeking an engineer that will serve as a technical thought leader and SME for the networking which supports our current public cloud environments (AWS), and as we venture into a multi-cloud organization. As a part of the Infrastructure Engineering team, you will also be a catalyst in our pursuit to continue to automate our infrastructure, the services we provide and help to define our IaC standards. Additionally, as a partner with our software development teams, you’ll ensure that the correct network topologies, architectures, and services are in place to support internal customers’ ability to achieve their objectives of reliability and scalability. Come join us on the amazing chance to reshape Chewy technology!

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, implement, test, and deploy networking solutions for Chewy’s hyper-scale cloud Platform which underpins its path-to-purchase systems
  • Deliver solutions that are simple, scalable, secure, maintainable, and repeatable
  • Develop self-service solutions which empower internal customers to move rapidly while building on Chewy’s Platform
  • Take part in cloud readiness assessments, workshops, roadmap, and application modernization activities in a push towards a cloud-native service architecture
  • Create automated solutions to monitor and support our public cloud platform and our software development and release processes, with an emphasis on self-healing systems

What You’ll Need:

  • Public Cloud infrastructure expertise, preferably with Amazon Web Services (AWS), but Azure and Google Cloud Platform experience is also useful
  • Background in DevOps, Software Development, Site Reliability, Networking Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and networking resources associated with AWS, along with the limitations associated with each and an ability to develop solutions that work around these limitations
  • Ability to troubleshoot networking on AWS and on-prem systems
  • Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment
  • Strong working knowledge of containerization
  • Experience working with Terraform and/or CloudFormation to implement IaC
  • Expertise in developing fault-tolerant, highly available, and geographically diverse systems
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure development efforts align with stakeholder needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated technical leadership
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate Certification OR equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or CS preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Position may require travel

Bonus (if applicable):

  • Experience with the Aviatrix Cloud Network Platform
  • Experience with Agile Scrum and/or Kanban methodologies
  • Linux System Administration experience, ideally CentOS, RedHat or SuSE
  • Expert-level certifications (AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, CCIE, etc.)
  • Experience with Akamai
  • Experience working in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture concepts/architectural approach
  • Experience building a culture centered around a DevOps mindset
  • Experience with distributed systems, including compute and data persistence layers
