Quality Engineer
Bevi is a Series C startup that has raised over $60 million to bring customizable, healthy hydration to offices and facilities across the US and Canada. Founded in 2013, our co-founders set out to out-design bottled water. Within five years time, Bevi has saved the waste generated by over 50 million plastic bottles and seen revenue grow by 10x over the past 2 years! With offices now in Boston, New York, and San Francisco, we continue to grow our healthy flavor offerings and constantly strive to bring the next level of customization to the Bevi hydration experience.
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join Bevi’s manufacturing and quality team. In this role you will drive continuous improvement and field reliability initiatives, be the “voice of the customer” while also representing the quality and manufacturing organization, and collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering. The ideal candidate will be able to excel in a fast-paced startup and cross-functional work environment with a passion for problem solving and driving issues to completion. Must be willing to travel 25 to 50%, 1 to 2 weeks a month, domestically.
As a Quality Engineer at Bevi, you will:
- Perform hands-on and data-driven triage root cause analysis utilizing common problem solving methodologies (8D, SCAR, 5Y, CAPA etc.)
- Work cross-functionally to drive closure of critical issues to ensure effective root cause and corrective action implementation
- Analyze quality monitoring data sources and apply statistical techniques to identify existing and potential causes of failures
- Perform periodic trend analysis and corrective action effectiveness measures to identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Work directly with component suppliers and contract manufacturers to create processes, tests and procedures to improve the customer experience and machine reliability
- Identify and implement quality requirements for design verification, test plan execution, and generation of test reports for NPI design verification
- Execute and design electromechanical tests, FMEAs and DOEs to identify root cause and verify corrective action fix effectiveness
- Influence standardization and process refinement within the engineering organization
- Have a thorough understanding of product life cycle development while balancing sustaining activities with new product development
- Develop and improve quality system processes to meet quality goals and KPIs
- Work with supply chain to reduce product cost by addressing applied labor hours, process cycle time, and through alternative component selection
- Perform periodic audits of supplier quality systems for the purpose of assuring continued Supplier conformance to quality system requirements
- Analyze data and trends on a regular basis and generate presentations to communicate complex technical issues to senior management
- Communicate and work closely with Senior Test and Reliability Engineer to identify and prioritize the most critical areas of improvement including, but not limited to, manufacturing and supplier defects, design limitations, field complaints, and serviceability issue
Requirements
We think you will bring:
- 4+ years of experience in quality assurance, reliability or manufacturing engineering
- BS in Engineering or Computer Science
- Proven track record of identifying, driving, and solving complex technical issues
- Experience working in a mechanical or consumer devices product company
- Experience with design for reliability including modeling, theory, and accelerated testing
- Experience with six sigma, quality controls, SPC, lean manufacturing, Kaizen, gap analysis, product lifecycle management, and problem solving methodology (such as 8D and 5Y)
- Experience tracking quality and reliability metrics, and writing test and technical reports
- Practical ability to communicate trade-offs and benefits of various decision paths
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently troubleshoot and communicate to internal and external stakeholders
Additional skills:
- Self-starter with the ability to drive tasks and initiatives to completion with limited direction
- Data-driven individual who utilizes data whenever possible; experience with data analysis tools a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Excited to explore new areas or learn skills that are unfamiliar, and passionate about delivering best-in-class quality to customers and stakeholders
- Experience with ZenDesk, Looker, Arena, NetSuite a plus
- NOTE: must be willing to travel domestically ~20% of the time
