Job Qualifications (basic job description):

The Project Engineer will support the Program Chief Engineer (CE) with the following:

  • Manage the program technical statement of work (SOW) segments to ensure effective execution to contracted milestone events

  • Lead project schedules for all technical tasks and resources, using a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in Microsoft Project, in the execution of customer technical requirements and deliverables

  • Ensure appropriate technical staffing levels and allocation of resources are maintained to execute the program to achieve schedule and technical performance

  • Communicate with the customer, external suppliers, internal departments and the program team related to all technical activities assigned

  • Assist the CE with the development, definition and communication of all program technical requirements and key performance parameters (KPPs) used to guide the design and system level testing verification activities

  • Prepare and present briefings to internal and customer audiences

  • Support program supplier management activities related to technical data requirements and supplier deliverables captured using the running action item lists (RAIL)

  • Support program ground and flight test activities as the program technical lead interfacing with Flight Operations personnel (Pilots/Flight Test Engrs/Mx Crews) related to aircraft integration of mission and test equipment as defined by test planning activities. Support the review of test data results and generation of applicable test reports.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in System/Project engineering and/or engineering management, organizational theory and team supervision

  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude

  • Must be prepared to interact with internal and external customers and have experience preparing and presenting to both

  • Must be able to take initiative and work independently in a variety of technical knowledge areas

  • Must able to grasp both the big picture as well as have a focused attention to detail

  • Must have the ability to multitask and work effectively, both individually and as a member of a program technical team, while ensuring timely completion of assignments

  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping of aircraft platforms with transitioning activities into low rate initial production (LRIP) thru product field support is highly desirable

 

Minimum Requirements (education and experience):

  • BS Engineering, Systems/Aero/Mech/Elec

  • Five-plus (5+) years of experience in design, systems and project engineering roles utilizing System Eng/PM process tools in the execution and control of aircraft design, development and test programs

  • Experience in leading aircraft design, manufacturing and integration activities

  • Experience in leading complex test program activities (ground and flight)

  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR regulations

  • Active Security Clearance (DoD) is desirable (but not a requirement)
