Who is Interactions?
Interactions, LLC is the world's largest independent AI company. We operate at the intersection of customer experience and AI - two of today's most innovative and dynamic industries. Since 2004, we've helped leading companies like MetLife, Citi, Shutterfly, and LifeLock have millions of successful conversations, resulting in saving operational cost and increasing productivity.
Interactions' 5-year vision is to accelerate a transition from today's frustrating and uninspired customer service experiences into amazing conversational engagements! Allowing customers to communicate in their own words and on their channel of choice, to accomplish tasks, all without having to go through an agent. In doing this via our conversational AI engine, our customers benefit from dramatically improved customer experience and increased customer engagement, while also saving significant and demonstrable operational expenses.
Job Description
As a member of one of our Technology teams, you will contribute to building solutions that use natural language processing, cognitive computing, and artificial intelligence applications or the frameworks and infrastructure that support them.
Interactions Corporation is building a new capability, an industrial-scale Spoken Conversation Understanding platform - an advanced AI system that "listens" to, and understands, human-to-human customer care conversations, and reacts to them in real time.
As Principle / Senior Software Engineer - R&D, you will play a key role in designing and implementing the platform, and the AI technology at its core, at a scale capable of processing tens of thousands of concurrent conversations. You will be expected to implement complex functionality, with minimal impact on CPU or latency, in code that must be easy to understand and revise. Your contributions will range from rapid prototyping of new functionality to software product development in C++ and python, within an agile framework.
You will be part of a highly collaborative team, with opportunities to contribute to all aspects of the system: the real-time event-driven engine, protocol stacks and APIs for integration into customer environments, low-latency speech recognition and natural language processing technology, offline machine learning tools and data pipelines, building and running end-to-end system tests, and the logging and analytics for tracking and improving performance.
Job Responsibilities

  • Software design and development, in Python, C++, and Linux, in an agile framework.
  • Follow production software through test, deployment, performance measurements, and customer feedback.
  • Identify, specify and prototype new functionality, and generally devise innovative solutions to customer problems and product opportunities, in collaboration with the extended Interaction Research and Development organization
  • Learn and use new tools, new technologies and new skills.
  • Support QA, by contributing to test suites and to automated test frameworks.
  • Provide customer technical support.

Qualifications Required:

  • B.S. or equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years work experience in software development, using C++ and Python in a Linux environment.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:

a. Real-time, low latency, event driven systems
b. Implementing complex algorithms for commercial purposes (neural networks, statistical calculation, graph optimization)
c. Machine learning, natural language processing, and/or speech recognition
d. Media streaming and communication protocols
e. Data engineering, data science

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and as a self-directed individual contributor
  • Curious about how things work, energized by technical challenge

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in call center integration skills.

Interactions Corporate Values:

  • Being passionate about customer service
  • Obsessing with our customer's success
  • Respecting each other
  • Creating opportunity
  • Embracing disruption
  • Doing what we say we will do
