Role Summary
This position is part of our Core team and will help integrate with various Telematics offerings we will support. The Principal Telematics Engineer will build a telematics platform, and this will support our evolving technologies in real-time delivery from the telematics offerings to the cloud. This role will be hybrid in our Boston office or can be based in Troy, Michigan.
Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of cloud IaaS architecture and API development for IoT cloud SaaS systems.
  • Experience in developing real-time telematics services on one or more cloud offerings.
  • Develop effective architecture solutions that not only satisfy immediate project requirements but also deliver a coherent, reusable, reliable and phased architecture to help the business grow and change while aligning to strategic vision.
  • Design intuitive, well-modeled API endpoints for both internal and user-facing consumption that conform to RESTful concepts. Use OpenAPI specification to document these endpoints. Use Postman for testing APIs.
  • Understand messaging protocols such as MQTT, Kafka and experience using 3rd party message brokers.
  • Experience with API Gateway, IoT Core, WebRTC, Elemental MediaConvert, Kinesis/Kinesis Video Streams, OpenSearch, Glue, SQS.
  • Development of advanced cloud services, AI, and real time telematics solutions.
  • Experience integrating with telematics devices and at scale.
  • Open-Source experience and effective with thinking through on build versus buy.
  • Collaborate with firmware/hardware teams to design new system-wide features and solutions.
  • Support end-users for high-priority issues.
  • Document development plans, processes, and overall applications from a technical perspective.
  • Support pilot initiatives and share the findings and provide best practices.


Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field of study.
  • 10-12 years of experience is a must with 4-5 years in the cloud space.
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customer
