IOS Engineer

The Digital Experience team, part of MassMutual’s Enterprise Technology Organization is composed of collaborative, cross-functional, product centric groups who like to have fun, challenge each other, and are energized to create innovative solutions that exceed the changing needs of our customers. We design, build, and support all of MassMutual’s customer-facing digital assets.
This role is on our mobile and emerging technologies team within Digital Experience. We are responsible for building all the mobile applications for the entire organization.

What great looks like in this role
Our ideal IOS engineer candidate is team-oriented, possesses excellent communication skills and who has proven work experience developing and supporting mobile applications utilizing current architecture. Leveraging a solid knowledge of mobile frameworks and development tools, candidates will work in a collaborative environment to architect and develop advanced mobile capabilities for a suite of apps.

Objectives of this role
Collaborate with other developers and take direction from the head of mobile and creative leads while communicating issues, providing estimates, and helping to envision creative solutions to technical challenges. Our Mobile engineer must demonstrate the ability to master new/emerging technologies and take initiative to offer technical direction and creative solutions.
Daily and monthly responsibilities
Develop mobile capabilities for a suite of apps with the latest iOS technologies
Leverage latest architecture patterns
Provide support in collaboration with other mobile developers
Take direction from the head of mobile and creative leads while communicating issues and driving toward resolution
Provide estimates, and helping to envision creative solutions to technical challenges
Drive toward the effective utilization of the latest technologies, partnering with business stakeholders across the team, as well as experts in other areas including data science to achieve these goals.
Learn and master new and emerging technologies and take initiative to offer technical direction and creative solutions.
Required Qualifications
1+ years of experience working on iOS apps
Ability to work with iOS development tools, preferably 1 or more; Swift, Cocoa Touch, UIKit, and XCode.
Experience in Swift leveraging object-oriented, protocol oriented and functional programming
Experience in branching and merging strategies such as Gitflow for similar.
Experience integrating with REST based APIs
Experience developing and using mobile Frameworks (cocoapods, Swift Package Manager, fastlane etc.)
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to collaborate in an agile team environment with engineers, product owners, testers, business analysts and groups outside of the team.
Bachelor's degree in CE, CS, EE, ME MIS
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, accessibility features and recommended patterns and practices
CI/CD Knowledge with tools such as Jenkins, AppCenter, DevOps and Fastlane to deliver continuous quality
Understanding of mobile security patterns and practices
Familiarity with iOS architecture patterns including Clean Architecture, MVVM, SOLID and DRY principles
Passion for following the mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and new technologies
Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
Experience with Android development
