Who you are

You are an outstanding information security engineer with experience implementing security practices and process. You are an engineer at heart, but knowledgeable and capable of responsibly handling customer data through privacy policies and procedures. You are slightly paranoid of external threats, but also confident in your ability to establish a robust defense and prevention plan. You are a super communicator, capable of articulating Drizly’s security strategy and elevating our company’s security and privacy culture. You are curious and passionate about privacy and security, keeping up with the latest trends, emerging threats and best practices. You are highly organized and detail oriented, capable of handling a wide variety of responsibilities and prioritizing appropriately. You are self driven and resourceful, when you see a problem, you solve it.

You have a proven track record of success, having defined, implemented and maintained a successful security strategy at a technical startup or organization, and are ready to do it again.

What the role is

The information security engineer will play an integral role in protecting Drizly’s customer information, responsible for ensuring Drizly’s data and information is protected from threats and vulnerabilities, internal and external. This role will define the company’s security strategy, policies, and practices and elevate the company’s privacy and security culture. You will tell us what we need to do to be responsibly secure, and then help us get there.

Working with our infrastructure team, the information security engineer will help identify security gaps in our cloud infrastructure and drive remediation activities to close those gaps. While protecting customer data, this person will also ensure that Drizly is following best practices and compliance with all regulations on the handling of sensitive data.

In this role you will:

  • Keep current on applicable laws and regulations and gold standards with respect to the collection and use of data
  • Monitor industry security updates, technologies, emerging threats and best practices for continuous improvement
  • Drive security related initiatives including but not limited to creating/maintenance of security policies, implementation of security procedures/controls, and monitoring conformance to the policy
  • Assess impacts of security incidents and direct incident response as appropriate
  • Perform routine security gap assessments and implement remediations
  • Be involved in new product development and growth strategy to ensure a privacy by design approach
  • Organize trainings for employees throughout the organization on best practices for information security and ensure that our business partners are well versed in our information handling and privacy policies
