Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring a Director, Software Engineering for our Autoship team in Boston, MA. The Autoship team is responsible for the Chewy’s subscription based delivery business that strives to help pet parents effortlessly receive everything they need to care for their pets. This includes the customer facing functionality on Chewy.com as well as the back-end services that ensures on-time delivery of each customer’s subscription and full-lifecycle communication management. This is a high-profile position that will have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of architecture, design and features for the Autoship program. This role offers a tremendous opportunity for professional growth in the leading online pet retailer in the US.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and lead a team of experienced Software Engineers, Quality Engineers and Software Development Managers responsible for Chewy’s Autoship program
  • Partner with our recruiting team to continue to build your team and mentor the growth of the current talented team
  • Drive technical decisions and work with your product owners to manage the backlogs to support multiple teams within the Chewy Software organization
  • Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams
  • Identify and manage priorities within the context of overall Chewy objectives
  • Work with others in Engineering Management to drive best practices in software development, testing, and production deployment
  • Interact with Chewy’s C-suite and VP management

What You'll Need:

  • Demonstrated history of implementing and managing significant software development projects
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Development as a software engineer
  • 10+ years of experience in Engineering Management
  • E-commerce experience
  • Proven delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Travel may be required

Bonus:

  • Java ecosystem experience
  • AWS ecosystem experience
