Your purpose: 

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Director of Developer Operations, will focus on building out our dev-ops team and function. As we will be looking to you for answers to our needs throughout our infrastructure, you should be hands-on enough to help design and architect solutions, but strategic in mindset and thought. As a cloud-based SaaS product, we have the following needs that should be addressed:

  • Infrastructure Management
  • CI / CD 
  • Observability 
  • Security, Governance, and Compliance 

Who you are:

As the Director of Developer Operations, you are ready to help Paperless Parts advance through its next phase of growth. You have the skills and confidence to create and execute against a roadmap that modernizes our cloud infrastructure and enables our engineers to safely deliver high-quality code quickly and efficiently. You are able to work independently and can operate as an individual as we scale up the function.

This position requires activities that are subject to US Export Control Laws and require US Citizenship or Green Card Holder.

Responsibilities: 

Infrastructure Management

  • Modernize and maintain our containerized AWS infrastructure

CI / CD 

  • Improve our ability to deploy, integrate, and test our software throughout the development lifecycle.

Observability 

  • As our footprint grows, we need better observability and forensics tools to help us maintain and debug our infrastructure.

Security, Governance, and Compliance 

  • To fully meet the needs of our customers, our cloud infrastructure must meet certain government compliance standards.

Team Building

  • Recruit and retain top talent for our engineering team
  • Mentor and coach the team to help each engineer meet their potential
  • As part of the Paperless Parts team, further, the company-wide DEI & social impact initiates

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • 2+ years experience managing a team
  • Highly proficient in AWS and its service offerings
  • Experience with some operations orchestration tool such as Jenkins
  • Experience working with enterprise SIEM tools such as ELK, Splunk
  • Experience working within some compliance framework such as FedRAMP or HIPAA, preferred
  • Travel to job shops as needed, COVID-19 vaccination required

Our headquarters is located in downtown Boston, MA, across the street from Faneuil Hall and easily accessible to most transit routes (Red/Blue/Orange/Green Line) or a 10-minute walk from both South and North Station.
