The Backend Engineer will build and enhance eCommerce systems, improve frontend infrastructure, and ensure performance and usability for branded resale platforms.

The Role. You will…
- Build retail websites for brands with attention to usability, design, and performance
- Extend our customizable, themeable ecommerce marketplace platform to more quickly setup brands with the precise requirements and styles each one needs
- Design and improve our growing frontend infrastructure including code generation, GraphQL APIs, build systems, server side rendering, and edge computing
- Receive mentorship in our collaborative, engineering environment

- Frontend: Next.js + React + Redux + Apollo Client (Typescript), Firebase Auth
- Backend: NodeJS (Typescript), Hasura GraphQL Engine, Python
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Vercel
Your Experience. You have…
- Proficiency with Typescript, Python, SQL, and Java (or equivalent)
- Built and shipped performant, scalable services
- Balanced complexity with sustainability and speed of delivery
- Bonus: Experience with any of the technologies in our stack especially GraphQL and React
- Bonus: Experience in a technical, customer-facing role
Our team of over 50 employees is currently remote-first, with an office in NYC and optional in-person work for those located in the area. We have company offsites twice a year to bring the full team together in person, and occasional travel is expected as part of the job.
