Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for an Associate Director – Platform Engineering to join our Infrastructure Team based in Boston, MA. As the Associate Director of Platform Engineering at Chewy, you’ll direct the teams who work to ensure that Chewy’s public and private cloud platforms support the firm’s current and future business needs. This is a high-profile position that will have exposure across the entirety of the business, driving the development, implementation, and management of these platforms’ roadmaps and associated projects and processes.

What you'll do:

  • Direct and manage a team of engineers in the building and operation of Chewy’s public and private cloud platforms and the shared services which support said platforms
  • Provide technical leadership to your team and the broader Chewy organization while working with the Cloud Business Office and internal customers to understand the firm’s current and future needs and to drive associated backlogs for execution by your teams
  • Support the implementation and management of Reference Architectures for use on Chewy’s cloud platforms
  • Partner with other groups in IT Operations, including SRE, Release Engineering, and the Cloud Business Office to support the organizational transformation currently underway within the Chewy technical orgs
  • Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams and organizational boundaries
  • Identify and manage priorities within the context of IT Operations and software development objectives
  • Work with others in IT Management to drive best practices in platform development, deployment, and management
  • Position may require some travel

What you'll need:

  • Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in the implementation and management of public and private cloud computing platforms and Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Proven ability to lead teams across multiple locations/geographies
  • Knowledge of public and private cloud, software development, and system integration
  • Highly motivated to research and self-study to keep technical, business, and leadership skills relevant in a highly complex environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with great attention to detail and accuracy

Bonus:

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Deep knowledge of both public and private cloud concepts
  • Experience with AWS and VMWare
  • Experience building systems with micro services and/or deep knowledge of SOA.
