Position Overview 

At Thrive, the Senior Engineer of the Cloud Deployment team is responsible for deploying infrastructure-based Thrive Service Offerings to diverse client environments.  This position’s primary objective is to expedite service activations through efficient task completion with a focus on excellent customer service and technology best practices.  Additionally, this role will assist in mentoring and training less experienced engineers while also setting standards for cloud deployment best practices. The Engineer will work with Deployment Engineers, Project Managers and Thrive clients to accomplish those goals and objectives.     
 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Analyze and document an unfamiliar client / server environment while assessing the quickest path to deployment of services  

  • Sets client expectations appropriately throughout the implementation process.  

  • Serves as a point of escalation for other Cloud Deployment Engineers.  

  • Assists in developing new Thrive standards for deploying services.  

  • Provides training to all service levels upon occasion when new technologies are deployed to customers  

  • Work through the project process to drive deployments to a successful outcome.  

  • Creation of Technical Implementation Plans to identify any outage windows or potential risks.  

  • Complete project work in scheduled maintenance windows.  

  • Transition completed project work to support team with all relevant documentation required for long term maintenance.  

  • Communicate directly with customers on project plans, potential impacts and testing procedures.  

  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills to accomplish multiple ongoing projects.  

  • Deployment of IT Services Related (but not limited to) the following:  

  • Backup and Disaster Recovery  

  • Windows Server Roles (Active Directory, DHCP, Print and File Services, etc)  

  • Hyper-V And VMWare Virtualization  

  • Deployment of Azure Workloads  

  • Deployment of servers in public and private clouds 

Qualifications  

Basic

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent work experience 

  • Excellent problem solver; able to prioritize and coordinate between tasks 

  • 3-6+ years of server deployment and migration experience 

  • Self-motivated, has ability to work both independently and in a team environment 

  • Experience troubleshooting network configuration and hardware issues 

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server and Workstation Technologies 

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills 

  • Ability to articulate and convey technical information to non-technical individuals.  

  • Is available to work after hours when necessary 

  • Ability to follow previously documented process while notifying management of variables that have not been clarified 

Preferred

  • Expert level experience with Windows Server Roles (Active Directory, DHCP, Print and File Services)  

  • Expert level experience with Azure Services  

  • Expert level experience with Terminal Services  

  • Expert level experience with monitoring and remote management tools   

  • Expert level experience with VMWare and/or Hyper-V  

  • General networking knowledge
