Madison Energy Infrastructure is seeking a highly experienced Energy Storage Manager to support the development, procurement, contracting, and execution of commercial and sub utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role sits within the Engineering team and focuses primarily on early-stage project work alongside M&A and Development, with handover to Construction and ultimately Asset Management.
This role will serve as a cross-functional technical and commercial expert, bridging equipment specifications, revenue/commercial terms, vendor procurement, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate also brings strong client-facing communication skills and the ability to interface directly with customers, partners, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Own- Technical Leadership & Specification – Lead BESS technical specifications (battery modules, inverters/PCS, EMS/SCADA, transformers, and BOS components), evaluate vendor proposals for performance compliance and safety standards, and define acceptance testing criteria (FAT/SAT, commissioning).
- Commercial & Revenue Support – Partner with the commercial team to translate revenue-driven requirements (capacity markets, ancillary services, demand response, tolling) into technical and contractual specifications, and support financial model inputs on equipment costs, degradation, and augmentation.
- Procurement & Contracting – Own end-to-end procurement strategy for BESS equipment and integrator services—including RFP development, bid leveling, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiation and execution across ESAs, MSAs, LTSAs, warranty agreements, and EPC scopes.
- Negotiation & Risk Mitigation – Negotiate key contract terms including pricing, delivery timelines, liquidated damages, warranty coverage, FEOC compliance, performance guarantees, and LTSAs, while identifying and resolving technical-commercial risks early in the project lifecycle.
- Client & Stakeholder Interface – Serve as Madison’s technical-commercial point of contact with customers, utilities, EPC partners, and OEMs, communicating complex topics clearly to non-technical audiences and representing the company in external negotiations and diligence sessions.
- Cross-Functional Project Support – Collaborate across Development, Finance, Legal, and Construction to keep projects contract-ready and execution-ready, and support investor and lender diligence with technical-commercial documentation.
(You don’t need to check every box, but here’s what will help you thrive.)
