This position is responsible for site-specific energy engineering analyses for technical Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Implementation projects. Provides technical quality assurance reviews of energy engineering studies. Investigates new technologies for Implementation programs and customer facilities. Serves as a technical liaison for Eversource on commercial and industrial energy efficiency issues. Provides detailed engineering support for value-added engineering, procurement and construction projects. Provides direct technical project management as required.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews third party calculations or conducts new detailed analysis of high efficiency HVAC equipment, motors, controls, lighting systems, and other equipment to determine electric and natural gas energy, demand and cost savings compared to baseline equipment and or building codes.
- Provides guidance on efficiency measures that will yield energy savings.
- Supports and/or conducts inspections of equipment and operations to ensure they are installed as intended.
- Collaborates with third parties and customers for implementation of energy efficiency programs.
- Provides training and support services for energy efficiency team and program marketing activities.
- Participates in the development of program and implementation plans for electric and natural gas energy efficiency programs. Reviews technical parameters and confirms that the project conforms to engineering standards, energy codes and incentive program rules.
- Supports Eversource in national energy efficiency conferences and/or stake holder events (e.g. ACEEE, ASHRAE, ACI, CEE, and state/regional R&D groups).
- Conducts the evaluation of new technologies and other research and development activities.
MININUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Basic knowledge in the areas of lighting, HVAC & fluid handling, refrigeration, compressed air systems, as well a background with control methodologies and systems, engineering economic analyses, and manufacturing and industrial processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer in relation to energy efficiency in commercial and industrial buildings.
- Familiarity with accepted energy engineering and HVAC industry standards, including applicable energy relevant building codes.
- Proficiency with various computer software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, relational databases, AutoCAD, and various energy simulation tools, such as eQuest, AirMaster+, and MotorMaster.
- Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management to develop program-wide policies and procedures; demonstrated ability to take initiative and accountability for results.
Education:
- BS Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Energy, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is required.
- Advanced degree in engineering, business, or policy is preferred.
Experience:
- Three (3) or more years of experience relating to the performance of duties and responsibilities of this position.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid motor vehicle operator license is required.
- Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or accredited Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Professional is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
