We're looking for an Electromechanical Systems Engineer who loves designing, building and flying aerial vehicles to join our team at MORSE Corp. This role will span aircraft design, autonomous vehicle integration and testing, sensor technology, and real-time embedded software. In this position, you will be involved in every aspect of integrating fixed wing aircraft—from mechanical build and electronics packaging to system integration and complete mechanical and electrical checkout. You will play an integral part in flight testing, building up and configuring novel autonomous UAVs, and supporting flight test events from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be comfortable loading and configuring autopilot software and excited to work hands-on across the entire development lifecycle, from initial assembly through operational flight testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, build, and flight test prototypes of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)
Build up and integrate both hardware and electronic systems
Apply problem-solving skills to rapidly prototype and test novel ideas
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate hardware and software components
Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
Take ownership of projects from concept to delivery
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a US security clearance
Currently pursuing a BS or BA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
Demonstrated experience applying first principles to solve complex problems
Familiarity with SolidWorks, Altium, or other design tools
Harness development: electrical component selection and fabrication to include crimping & soldering
RC C2: familiarity with radio transceivers, power systems, and integration into a larger system
Mechanical fabrication: laser cutting, wood working, basic composites, additive manufacturing
Strong communication skills
Self starter and planner
Experience with unmanned aerial systems (fixed wing & VTOL platforms), flight controllers, power systems, sensors, navigation, communications, and R/C-based solutions
Strong understanding of aircraft design, flight mechanics, and aircraft stability and control
RC aircraft hobby & familiarity with commercial autopilots & peripheral sensors
Experience with bench top and field experimental design to verify hardware design and performance requirements
Familiarity with PX4, Ardupilot, or similar. Parameter configuration, firmware updating and management, log download and data archival.
MORSE Corp’s salary range for this role carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to, prior experience, education, skills and expertise, location, internal equity, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need. Therefore, final offer amounts may vary from the amount stated. Depending on role eligibility, total compensation may also include bonus, stock, 401(k) match, paid time off, medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
