About the role

Travel: 50-70%

  • The Electrical Controls Project Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of assigned projects, including PLC programming, electrical systems, functional design documentation (FDD), testing, and commissioning. This role serves as the technical lead for the onsite controls team and is recognized as the subject matter expert, ensuring project success and compliance with organizational standards.

What you'll do

  • Lead all technical aspects of controls projects, including PLC programming, electrical system design, FDD creation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Serve as the technical lead for onsite controls teams, providing expertise and guidance.
  • Ensure all functional design documentation is reviewed and approved prior to contract review and project mobilization.
  • Oversee system commissioning to ensure completion on schedule and in compliance with specifications.
  • Escalate and resolve technical issues/roadblocks within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Verify checkout documentation for all systems is complete at project completion.
  • Approve payroll bi-weekly and ensure timely submission of expenses.
  • Ensure all required trainings are completed on time for self and team.
  • Foster employee engagement and maintain or improve engagement scores year-over-year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in PLC programming and electrical controls.
  • Experience with functional design documentation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Prior experience leading technical teams onsite.
  • Strong project management and contractor oversight skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% (up to 70% during peak season).
