Job Description:

Job Summary: Coordinates, schedules, and manages the daily activities within the Product Development Electrical Design team responsible for developing and creating parametric models and assemblies using CAD for various types of HVAC equipment—including conceptual designs. Supervises Electrical Designers with the help and collaboration of the Manager, Design and Design Engineers to ensure the timely completion of assigned projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, schedules, and manages the daily activities within the Product Development Electrical Design team responsible for developing and creating parametric models and assemblies using CAD for various types of HVAC equipment—including conceptual designs.
  • Supervises Electrical Designers with the help and collaboration of the Manager, Design and Design Engineers to ensure the timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Provides technical and team leadership through coaching and mentorship for the Electrical Design Team, and acts as liaison between the team and the Manager, Design.
  • Reviews schematics for designs and makes design recommendations.
  • Collaborates with other designers and engineers to ensure that the electrical system designs integrate seamlessly with other systems.
  • Collaborates with Engineers, management, and other creative departments to determine design solutions.
  • Provides support to production team during prototypes and production launch to facilitate seamless releases and is trusted as a point person or go to for manufacturing issues.
  • Seeks ways to implement new ideas and technologies.
  • Keeps pace with the processing of orders in-house (SPAS).
  • Collaborates with the Design Engineering team to develop design standards.
  • Confers with engineering management to complete assigned projects.
  • Provides complete bills of material by defining when, where, and why specific parts are used.
  • Supports DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and Seismic evaluations and testing.
  • Understands safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
  • Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical field and 5 years’ experience in the HVAC or similar industry; or two-year technical degree and 10 years’ experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Possesses previous supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Exhibits good decision making and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure, team environment.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Occasional travel as required.
