Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

You will be responsible for implementing functional strategy, providing expert analysis, and developing technical products and systems. This role involves resolving complex technical issues, conducting advanced research, and recommending design improvements. It requires a high degree of independent judgment, creativity, and collaboration across teams.
The selected candidate will focus on the design and release of virtual and/or actual hardware that enables an innovative, diagnosable power delivery system.
What You'll Do -
- Establish domain expertise and develop requirements (including lessons learned), use cases, and virtual scenarios for Electric Power to ensure the design, development, and release of hardware components are robustly integrated in the vehicle virtually with quality
- Design/build scenarios according to requirements for testing or development, write automated testing scripts, and ensure a fully validated robust and efficient solution based on key imperatives / requirements at the component and system level.
- Perform correlation studies comparing simulation to vehicle data
- Develop/execute/manage simulation test cases and create/review/approve Virtual team simulation results including electrical simulation for functional performance and 3D math modeling to study packaging of components, surrounding interfaces, FEA or modal analysis.
- Manage to program timing virtual test scenarios to support functional controls/ hardware design development
- Support test team to set up test environment in bench, deploy relevant tool chain for debugging in relevant environments
- Assist simulation capacity build up in GM Electric Power team through working with global team and other virtual teams.
- Proactively track and lead improved technical solutions to support innovation, trade off studies, benchmarking analysis, and problem solving investigation including resolution of simulation issues, plant launch support, QRD/Warranty concerns for components by gathering and deep diving data, working with QRD team, supplier and/or GM internal counterparts for resolution and containment of issues to drive down overall warranty
- Develop eSOR (Statement of Requirements) and release virtual models to facilitate low development costs and high quality integration in accordance with Global Vehicle Development Process program timing requirements
- Lead Virtual Product Development Team (PDT) consisting of all internal and external partners ensuring virtual models are designed, produced and production ready in support of program timing and GM execution deliverables, including high quality to meet customer needs.
- Project manage ongoing process/product designs related to virtual modeling and present progress to leadership including components & vehicle integration status.
- Communicate, coordinate, and consult with other engineering departments, suppliers and customers for overall engineering activities including pre-production and production build events (virtual or physical)
- Responsible for executing quality chain deliverables such as design reviews, requirement linkage to verification, sub system DFMEA, supplier DFMEA reviews and DRBFMs to drive defect free components
- Mentor and assist others as the opportunities arise
- Travel as required (less than 10%)
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Degree majoring in computer science, chemistry, automation, electronics and electrical or mechanical engineering.
- At least 3-5 years experience in automotive or computer aided engineering field
- Proficient in using Matlab or C++/Python programming;
- Preferred Experience in using simulation software such as CarSim and Prescan, Saber, Simulink, synopsys, or experience in general simulation testing (MIL, SIL, HIL, VIL, etc.) is preferred
- Experience with DNG and requirement development
- Good analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.
- Proactive study sense, Structural and forward thinking, team work spirit.
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Have a serious and responsible work attitude.
