Job Summary

Kettle Cuisine is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented EDI Support Specialist to join our CS team in a support role. Working directly alongside our EDI Specialist, you will assist in the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of our Electronic Data Interchange environment — including our SPS Commerce platform, ROSS ERP integrations, and trading partner connections. In addition to traditional EDI support, this role has a forward-looking component: you will actively participate in the development and deployment of AI-assisted tools and automations to streamline EDI workflows, error resolution, and data processing.

Key Responsibilities

EDI Operations & Support

  • Monitor daily EDI transaction queues (850, 855, 940, 944, 810) and resolve processing exceptions in ROSS ERP under the guidance of the EDI Specialist.
  • Assist in configuring and maintaining EDI connections and document types within SPS Commerce.
  • Support the EDICOPY.BAT and AutoFTP file sync processes between production servers; escalate persistent failures promptly.
  • Perform testing and validation for new trading partner onboarding and document type additions.
  • Respond to internal inquiries from Customer Service, Shipping, and Finance related to EDI order discrepancies, routing issues, and document exceptions.
  • Maintain and update documentation for EDI procedures, configurations, error codes, and troubleshooting steps in the IT Knowledge Base.

Trading Partner & Vendor Coordination

  • Communicate with trading partners (e.g., Walmart, US Foods, Sam's Club) and third-party vendors (SPS Commerce, B2BGateway, Aptean/Ross) to coordinate testing, issue resolution, and onboarding tasks.
  • Track open items and follow up on pending setups or corrections with external EDI teams.

AI Development & Automation

  • Assist in building and maintaining AI-assisted tools to automate repetitive EDI tasks — such as exception triage, error categorization, and order discrepancy detection.
  • Collaborate with the EDI Specialist and IT Director to identify high-value automation opportunities within the ROSS EDI workflow.
  • Develop and refine AI prompt workflows and scripts (Python or Power Automate) to reduce manual intervention in daily EDI processing.
  • Support testing and iteration of AI-generated automations before production deployment.
  • Help document AI tool configurations, training inputs, and usage guides for team adoption.

Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience in IT support, data analysis, EDI, or a related field.
  • Exposure to EDI standards (X12, ANSI) and common document types (850, 855, 810, 940, 944) is a plus.
  • Any hands-on experience with AI tools, prompt engineering, Python scripting, or workflow automation is strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Basic understanding of EDI data formats: X12 segments, XML, CSV, and flat files.
  • Familiarity with FTP/SFTP file transfer concepts.
  • Comfortable working in or learning ERP environments (ROSS experience is a plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to read raw EDI data files to identify errors.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and automation — eager to learn and experiment with new tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-departmental coordination.
  • High attention to detail and organizational discipline.

Working Environment

This role sits within a small, collaborative IT team and will have daily interaction with Customer Service, Shipping, and Finance. You will be mentored directly by our EDI Specialist and work closely with the Director of Information Technology. We are actively investing in AI-assisted workflows and expect this role to grow alongside those capabilities.
