The position sits within the Americas Fixed Income division at BlackRock. BlackRock’s Americas Fixed Income team manages more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors a broad array of investment choices across model-based and fundamental investment styles

Your role and impact

BlackRock seeks a candidate with some experience who will join a team that provides rigorous macroeconomic analysis and policy insight, contributing to the investment regime identification process for portfolio management teams in Fundamental Fixed Income.

Your responsibilities

As a Fixed Income Economist, you will:

  • Help to develop and maintain a coherent analytical process designed to help establish the central expectation for the trajectory of growth and inflation, and the implications therein for the monetary policy reaction function
  • Provide regular insight and analysis to the portfolio management teams on relevant economic data releases and policy meetings
  • Contribute to the macroeconomic discussion internally at key weekly meetings and ad hoc portfolio management team meetings
  • Develop relationships across policy making bodies and academic institutions, and maintain a thought-leadership role with respect to contemporary themes and debates within the economics community

You have…

  • A strong background in macroeconomics with substantial experience forecasting and analyzing economic trends
    • Experience as an economist in the financial services industry preferred, or an economist with deep knowledge of financial markets.
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), theoretical, and analytical skills, including coding in R and/or Python
  • An ability to lead and influence strategic discussions and help develop rigorous conclusions that can be utilized across multi-asset teams
  • An intellectual curiosity that drives creative thinking, lends itself to the production of credible thought leadership, and inspires others across investment teams

Please note: the advertised salary range is for a Vice President-level hire, but we will also consider talented Associate-level candidates.


 

For NY7 - 50 Hudson Yards, New York Only the salary range for this position is USD$155,000.00 - USD$210,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
