We’re looking for a Director of UX & Conversion Design to own and elevate the end-to-end digital customer journey at Freebird. This role sits at the intersection of CRO, UX/UI design, offer strategy, and brand creative direction, with one mission:

👉 Design and optimize the highest-converting, most trusted shopping experience in the category — driving customer acquisition, maximizing first-order contribution margin, and building long-term customer value.

You’ll lead the strategy and execution of our landing pages, funnels, offers, user flows, and site design, working closely with our CRO Manager, Dev team, and CEO. You’ll combine data, customer insights, and world-class UX design to constantly experiment, iterate, and refine — while elevating Freebird’s brand perception and customer trust at every step.

Responsibilities:Acquisition, Funnel & Offer Optimization
  • Own and optimize the core funnel experience (hero/offer, landing pages, checkout, subscription flows).
  • Translate customer insights + business data into testable UX and offer strategies.
  • Partner with CRO Manager to design and test radically different LP/offer frameworks.
  • Constantly improve CVR, first-order contribution margin, and LTV through better flows, messaging, and design.
UX Design & Systems
  • Create a lightweight design system that balances speed of testing with consistency and brand elevation.
  • Establish best practices for funnel UX, trust signals, messaging hierarchy, and visual consistency.
  • Elevate Freebird’s digital creative direction to build customer trust and premium brand perception.
Experimentation & Iteration
  • Rapidly design and ship new landing page and funnel variants in collaboration with CRO + Dev.
  • Use Figma and prototyping tools to move from concept → test → live quickly.
  • Apply A/B testing frameworks and ensure results are statistically valid.
  • Balance conversion performance with transparency, compliance, and trust-building.
Leadership & Team Building
  • Start as a hands-on design leader (player/coach).
  • Over time, hire and lead a small team of UX Designers, CRO Strategists, and Copywriters.
  • Build a culture of experimentation, speed, and customer-first design.
  • Mentor designers and strategists to level up their conversion-focused design skills.

Requirements
  • 6–10+ years of experience in UX/UI design, eCommerce funnels, and CRO.
  • Proven track record designing and testing high-converting landing pages and digital funnels for consumer products.
  • Strong understanding of direct-response design psychology, offer strategy, and user flows.
  • Expertise in Figma, prototyping, and lightweight design systems.
  • Hands-on experience running A/B tests, analyzing results, and iterating quickly.
  • Ability to balance performance design with premium brand elevation.
  • Collaborative and able to work closely with CRO, Marketing, Dev, and CEO.
  • Experience building and leading small, high-impact design/experiment teams a plus.
Success Metrics
  • Higher CVR across new landing page/offer frameworks.
  • Maintained or improved CAC efficiency with transparent, compliant funnels.
  • Reduced CX friction points (subscription complaints, chargebacks).
  • Improved retention and LTV from better user and customer experiences
  • Established design system to streamline and scale experimentation.
  • Built and led a small Growth Design Team (UX, CRO, Copy) over time.
  • Elevated overall brand perception and trust across digital experiences.

This role will directly shape how millions of customers experience Freebird.

  • It’s about building funnels that convert today and earn trust for tomorrow.
  • It’s the single biggest lever on acquisition, margin, and LTV.
  • You’ll transform our site into a world-class, compliant, and trusted digital experience, while creating the foundation for a scalable growth design team.

So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
