Job Description

  

Job Summary:

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for directing and overseeing the international trade compliance program for Teledyne Technologies Incorporated’s Instrumentation Segment, including the Test & Measurement, Environmental Instruments, and Marine groups. The role supports business units engaged in manufacturing, R&D, and sales across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

The Director serves as a key advisor to senior management and regularly interacts with U.S. government agencies. The position requires the ability to oversee diverse business operations, monitor regulatory and operational changes, manage high-risk compliance areas, and take timely corrective action. In addition to program oversight, the Director is responsible for handling complex and significant trade compliance matters and continuously strengthening the segment’s overall compliance framework.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and ensure trade compliance across the Instrumentation Segment in accordance with U.S. and non-U.S. laws, regulations, and Teledyne corporate policies.

  • Manage and develop a trade compliance organization consisting of Consolidated Business Unit (CBU) Trade Compliance Leads and regional/site administrators.

  • Establish management accountability for all core trade compliance functions, including export controls, customs classification and valuation, preferential trade programs, denied party screening, technology transfers, recordkeeping, audits, training, and proposal and technical data review.

  • Provide day-to-day operational guidance on export compliance matters, including licensing, agreements, jurisdiction and classification requests, and related documentation.

  • Provide operational guidance on customs compliance matters, including tariff classification, valuation, and preferential trade agreements.

  • Monitor high-risk compliance areas, recommend mitigation strategies, and take appropriate corrective actions.

  • Track regulatory and business operational changes to identify emerging compliance risks.

  • Ensure timely closure of internal audit findings and corrective actions.

  • Set compliance priorities, establish annual goals, and participate in performance evaluations.

  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training.

  • Develop and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and systems.

  • Coordinate with Corporate International Trade Compliance on government inquiries, investigations, and voluntary disclosures.

  • Serve as a designated Empowered Official.

  • Oversee customs broker and freight forwarder relationships.

  • Support trade compliance due diligence for acquisitions.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in business, law, international trade, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible trade compliance experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. export and customs regulations; familiarity with non-U.S. regimes.

  • Leadership experience managing and mentoring compliance staff.

  • Strong judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be a U.S. Person under export control regulations.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

  

Salary Range:

$150,400.00-$200,500.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
