The Director of Talent Acquisition leads the recruiting function for Cengage Group’s global organization. The incumbent will drive a partnership culture that flourishes with understanding the needs of the organization and then meeting those needs with well-defined processes. You will develop recruitment programs that differentiate our hiring practices and candidate experience and enables Cengage to scale effectively. This role requires a leader that understands operational excellence and can use data to best enable business decisions. You will also be responsible for TA operations and system support to develop initiatives that are tailored to the organization.

What you will do here:

  • Develops and implements strategic recruitment and employment processes to meet the needs of the organization ensuring a consistent approach

  • Builds consistent tools and processes to ensure effective management of the recruitment process at all phases from identification of need, through recruitment, evaluation of candidacy, and offer. Provide input to HRIT on the development and continuous improvement of the ATS and other supporting tools.

  • Collaborates with HR Tech leaders to manage the organization’s ATS (Workday Recruit) data for state and federal reporting.

  • Reviews recruitment data to find trends, improve strategies, and assess efficiency for leadership evaluation.

  • Empowers, guides and supports a team of Recruiting Partners to build and implement innovative hiring strategies that ensure a high-touch candidate experience.

  • Define important metrics and apply results with internal and outsourced stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and accountability.

  • Drives continuous improvement to develop and deliver effective, cost efficient and “standard methodology” strategies for recruitment efforts.

  • Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of employment and recruitment policies.

  • Works closely with Communications to build and demonstrate social media and digital marketing plans to engage with top talent. Collaborates in developing and promoting employer brand and value proposition to candidates.

  • Ensures appropriate employment practices are consistently applied and in compliance with global labor laws and regulations.

  • Establishes, cultivates, and maintains ongoing relationships with Talent Strategy Partners and department management in order to better understand business units, workforce planning and recruitment needs.

  • Enables the alignment of staffing with workforce plans, growing the ability for departments to meet goals by attracting and retaining the brightest minds in our industry.

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • Minimum 10 years recruiting experience, including 5 years leading a recruiting team in a large matrixed organization.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully navigating and improving ATS workflows in Workday Recruiting platform.

  • Strong analytical skills and track-record of using data to inform strategy and optimize performance.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies in alignment with business objectives to drive organizational growth.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, leads effectively, builds consensus, works well with diverse groups.

  • Ability to coordinate and lead multiple projects to successful completion, adapting to shifting priorities in a fast paced environment.

  • Proven experience successfully scaling recruiting practices in high-growth environments.

  • Knowledge of employment related regulations within the US. Global experience is preferred.

  • In depth and current knowledge and able to interpret and apply labor laws.

  • Dynamic leader with strong ability to connect and effectively communicate with people of all levels; ability to present information persuasively and influence decisions.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
