The Opportunity 

The Director of Strategic Insights & Communications serves as the chief assessment and data strategist for the Division of Student Affairs, while also leading the division’s integrated marketing and communications strategy. This role is instrumental in supporting evidence-based decision-making, strategic planning, and continuous improvement across the division.

The Director oversees divisional assessment efforts, ensures compliance with institutional and accreditation-related reporting, and provides data-driven insights to Student Affairs leadership. Simultaneously, this position manages branding, marketing, and communication initiatives that promote student engagement, retention, and overall success.

This is a highly collaborative role that serves as a key liaison between Student Affairs and partners including Institutional Research, Enrollment Services, Student Support Services, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, design, and implement the division’s assessment framework and data strategy.

  • Collect, analyze, and present data to inform divisional priorities, programming, and strategic planning.

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external data reporting requirements, including accreditation and benchmarking tools.

  • Provide training and support to Student Affairs staff in the development and use of assessment tools.

  • Develop and manage marketing and communication strategies aligned with divisional goals.

  • Oversee branding, publications, web content, and social media in coordination with university marketing.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to advance student engagement, success, and retention initiatives.

  • Support the preparation of annual reports, strategic plans, and institutional effectiveness documentation.

  • Supervise professional staff and/or student employees as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Marketing, Communications, Educational Research, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in higher education assessment, strategic planning, or marketing.

  • Demonstrated experience with assessment design, data analytics, and data visualization tools.

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with institutional research practices and student success metrics.

  • Experience with platforms such as Qualtrics, Tableau, or Power BI.

  • Prior experience managing digital marketing or communication campaigns.

Working Conditions:
  • This position is currently remote. If business needs change, the role may transition to fully in-person work, either temporarily or permanently, with possible hybrid option.
  • Standard office environment: some evenings and weekends may be required for divisional events and initiatives.
