Overview

PerfectServe is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead our healthcare scheduling platform. This strategic and hands-on role involves guiding a development team, setting technical direction, and collaborating with leadership and business areas to create software roadmaps. You'll ensure your team has the right roles, people, and support, while removing obstacles to their success. As part of the technical leadership team, you'll design and implement a strategy aligned with R&D objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Leadership and Team Management: Build, guide, and mentor a team of software engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Technical Strategy and Direction: Define and implement technical strategies and roadmaps aligned with company objectives. Set engineering standards and ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Project Oversight and Delivery: Oversee the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products and services. Manage project deadlines, resource allocation, and prioritization. Ensure successful product releases in collaboration with product management and other stakeholders.
  • Operational Efficiency: Manage the department's budget and resource distribution. Establish metrics and monitoring systems to track performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Address security concerns and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate communication and collaboration within the engineering team and across departments. Work with executive leadership to align technical direction with business goals. Partner with other business areas to create software roadmaps and drive software excellence

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering SaaS software projects.
  • Strong foundation in software development principles, architecture, and system design.
  • Experience with programming languages (Python, .NET, React, and Rails).
  • Knowledge of cloud computing (AWS) DevOps, CI/CD, and microservices architecture.
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
  • Experience managing and scaling engineering teams.
  • Strong ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers and managers.
  • Expertise in agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Experience in setting technical direction and creating software roadmaps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions.
