Description

Anvilogic is a Palo Alto-based AI cybersecurity startup founded in 2019 by security veterans and data scientists from Fortune 500 companies.

Our mission is to democratize threat detection and hunting for today’s SOC teams to easily be done across hybrid, multi-clouds and security data lakes without needing to centralize data or rip and replace tools. Further, with our investments in AI-powered automation of detection-as-code to create, test, tune and deploy detections, SOC users can implement high-efficacy detection and hunting techniques without writing a single line of code nor manually wrangling data.

Anvilogic raised funding in April 2024 and is backed by top-tier VC firms and prominent industry executives. Anvilogic’s AI-powered Multi-Data Platform SIEM is used by many of the industry’s most advanced security teams.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead our Data team. This team builds and operates the foundation of Anvilogic’s platform—responsible for ingesting, normalizing, and storing massive volumes of diverse security data at scale.

You’ll set the strategic direction for our data platform, partner with product and security experts, and lead execution of high-impact initiatives. You’ll also develop future technical leaders and help define what “great engineering” looks like at Anvilogic.

  • Own execution of company-critical projects across the entire data domain.
  • Define and evangelize best practices for building high-quality, high-velocity, AI-first software.
  • Mentor and grow senior engineers and emerging managers into the next generation of leaders.
  • Establish strong operational rigor around monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Act as a cultural leader—raising the bar for engineering excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Proven success leading large-scale, data-intensive projects from design through operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across engineering, product, and security stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and first-line managers.
  • Bias toward action: able to independently drive open-loop projects, escalate effectively when needed.
  • Ability to quickly ramp up on our tech stack (Python, Java, AWS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks) or SIEMs (e.g. Splunk).
  • Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Sentry, etc.).
  • Exposure to LLM patterns (Agents, RAG, Tools) and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with security data (endpoint, network, or log sources).
Benefits
  • US Salary Transparency: The base salary range for this full time position is $220,000 - $250,000 + equity + benefits. Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Competitive salary with equity in the company
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited paid time off policy for work life balance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Monthly stipend for home internet and cell phone expenses

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
