Director — Snowball

Contract / Contract-to-Hire | $10,000–$14,000/month | US Remote

We're building the best YouTube agency in the world.

We've assembled a crazy-talented group of YouTube strategists who've collectively generated over 110 billion views and shaped how YouTube works today. Our founder, Ryan Hashemi, built Jubilee to 14 million subscribers, has 4 Emmy nominations, and even trained the person who now is the CEO of MrBeast's studio. Our team comes from iconic names like WIRED, Vogue, Mini Katana (18M+ subs), and other influential YouTube brands.

(Learn more about Ryan's journey here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7262864813221888000/)

Now we're helping the world's biggest brands crack the code on YouTube and make content that people actually want to watch at scale.

We lead YouTube creative and content programming as a strategic channel. We staff and train in-house YouTube teams for clients, hiring video producers, editors, and strategists, and build long-form storytelling systems designed to compound over time. The result: evergreen content that earns millions of views, builds loyal audiences, and drives conversions.

Why This Is Exciting

After stepping down from Jubilee, Ryan is betting everything on Snowball, and that bet is already paying off.

The world's biggest brands know YouTube is the next frontier, they just need the right partner to help them win.

That's where you come in.

Your Role: Director

As a Director at Snowball, you own the creative vision for YouTube content made for some of the biggest brands in the world. You'll shape what a video is before it's shot, direct it on set, and steer it through the edit, holding a single creative point of view from concept to final cut.

You'll work closely with our producers, strategists, editors, and channel leads to develop formats, set the creative bar, and build videos designed to hold attention, drive retention, and scale channels through repeatable, high-performing structures. This role is ideal for a director who thinks in stories and systems, and who is excited to own creative outcomes rather than just execute against a brief.

What You'll Do
  • Own the creative vision end to end for every video you're assigned

  • Develop formats, mechanisms, and structure alongside the Snowball team

  • Build creative outlines that map how a video will look once shot and edited: intro, title cards, format beats, specific insights, and outro; and present them for review ahead of filming

  • Build shot lists and set the visual vision for filming locations

  • Attend casting calls and align talent on creative needs and expectations

  • Identify props, set decoration, and any assets needed on set (clips, images, music)

  • Partner with the DP to set the look and technical expectations for each shoot

  • Ensure every video aligns with Snowball's YouTube best practices: confirming title and thumbnail options before shooting, identifying and paying off the promise of the video, crafting an optimized intro, and building for value, retention, and insight

  • Devise and execute creative elevations and confirm all must-haves are captured

  • Direct all creative on set

  • Build the paper-cut and edit outline that sets the editor up for success

  • Work closely with editors through the edit, owning notes and creative direction across every cut

  • Incorporate notes from Snowball and brand partners in Frame.io, turning notes around no later than one day after a cut is delivered

  • Maintain consistency across episodes, formats, and recurring series

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years directing video content with a strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling craft (required). YouTube experience is strongly preferred.

  • Proven track record developing formats and creative concepts that perform, not just executing someone else's vision

  • Strong understanding of YouTube pacing, structure, retention tactics, and platform best practices

  • Experience directing educational, narrative, branded, or documentary-style long-form content

  • Experience running a set and directing talent, crew, and DPs

  • Fluency in the post process — able to build a paper-cut, give precise edit notes, and guide an editor to the intended cut

  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments with competing client priorities and tight timelines

  • Clear, direct communicator who can align producers, editors, strategists, and brand stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail and organization across pre-production docs, shot lists, and asset needs

  • Passion for YouTube and curiosity about what makes content perform

What We Offer
  • $10,000–$14,000 per month

  • Contract engagement with a clear path to full-time hire

  • Remote-Hybrid flexible

  • Direct mentorship from the co-founders

  • Ground-floor opportunity at a fast-growing company

Our Values
  • Work hard, learn harder

  • Be effectively proactive

  • Overdeliver for clients

  • Be kind by being clear

  • A+ players only

Resumes are great and all, but we'd love to see something creative that shows who you are and why you're excited about this role. We want to see the real you, what makes you unique, passionate, and ready to help us build the future of content marketing.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
