Enterprise Financial Control is a group within the Controllers Organization reporting directly to the Citi Chief Accounting Officer and Controller.  This group is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm’s books and records, including the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of various asset classes.

This role will report directly to the Enterprise Financial Controller.  The Segment Financial Controller will lead a team of subject matter experts for their segment, focused on ensuring items are booked in the general ledger with best-in-class controls. The team will be responsible for their Segment’s balance sheet and income statement integrity and partner with their Segment Controller teams on adjustments or reconciliation issues.  In addition, they will partner with the Asset Class Controller teams on balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation activities for their respective Segment.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Segments books and records, including the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across their Segment.
  • Oversee the accounting treatment of activity in the Financial Statements
  • Responsible for adjustments and reconciliation of financial results to the general ledger.
  • Responsible for understanding the logic and aggregation of data related to their Segment.
  • Responsible for the sub-weekly reconciliation of the reporting models to the statement of record
  • Attestation to the reporting models as data contributors through to report production
  • Drive and deliver strategic improvements in the reconciliation and reporting processes across their Segment.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders regarding financial matters for their Segment.
  •   Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and technologies for the respective Segment.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years relevant experience including managing teams.
  • Advanced level of accounting knowledge and experience with banking products.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Sound judgment to make decisions based on thoughtful and balanced analysis of highly complex issues.
  • Sense of urgency in implementing processes and controls and evaluating priorities; decisive, action-oriented and practical.
  • Ability to align cross functional teams and resources to drive overall strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under demanding time frames
  • Flexibility to meet changing work requirements and strict deadlines.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, interpersonal and coaching skills. Ability to work across different levels of management and support functions.
  • Ability to develop effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of groups across Citi as well as external auditors and regulators.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Digital savvy

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree/CFA/CPA preferred, managerial experience.
