Position Overview

The Director of the Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE) is a critical leadership role responsible for the overall strategic direction, governance, and operational excellence of the Salesforce ecosystem at Zelis. Our Salesforce platform is central to Zelis operations, and we’re building a Center of Excellence (CoE) to ensure it's a powerful and scalable engine for growth. We're seeking a Director, Salesforce CoE to own the strategy, execution, and health of our entire Salesforce ecosystem. Reporting to the VP of Enterprise Applications, this isn't just a leadership role, it's a chance to build something from the ground up, define our future, and make a tangible impact on the business. Key Responsibilities 

1. Strategic Leadership and Vision: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Salesforce CoE operating model and long-term strategic roadmap that aligns with Zelis' overall business and digital transformation goals. 

  • Partner with business leadership and key stakeholders across sales, marketing, service, and other business units to understand their needs and translate them into a clear Salesforce vision and prioritized backlog. 

  • Champion a data-driven culture, using platform metrics, business insights, and user feedback to inform strategic decisions and demonstrate the ROI of Salesforce initiatives. 

2. Governance and Platform Oversight: 

  • Establish and enforce a robust governance framework, including standards for change management, release management, security protocols, and data quality. 

  • Oversee the Salesforce platform's health, stability, and security, ensuring compliance with industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2) and internal policies. 

  • Manage a complex multi-org or single-org Salesforce environment, including all clouds (e.g., Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud) and integrated applications. 

  • Lead efforts to manage and reduce technical debt, ensuring the platform remains scalable and maintainable as the organization grows. 

3. Team and Vendor Management: 

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Salesforce team, including administrators, developers, business analysts, and architects. 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CoE, ensuring efficient and agile delivery of projects and support services. 

  • Manage relationships with Salesforce, third-party vendors, and system integrators, negotiating contracts and ensuring that external partners deliver high-quality, on-time solutions. 

4. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: 

  • Stay current with the latest Salesforce technologies, product releases, and industry trends (e.g., AI, automation, Data Cloud) to identify opportunities for Zelis to realize value from a centralized user experience.  

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, regularly reviewing processes and methodologies to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Drive user adoption by implementing comprehensive training programs, a clear support model, and proactive communication plans. 

5. Budget and Resource Management: 

  • Develop, manage, and track the annual budget for the Salesforce platform, including license costs, vendor contracts, and internal staffing. 

  • Ensure optimal allocation of resources (internal and external) to meet project demands and business priorities. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a leadership role managing a Salesforce platform, with a significant portion dedicated to building and leading a CoE. 

  • Deep expertise across multiple Salesforce clouds (e.g., Sales, Service, Marketing) and a strong understanding of the platform's declarative and programmatic capabilities. 

  • Experience with Data Cloud, MuleSoft, and Agentforce is a significant plus. 

  • Proven track record of developing and executing a strategic roadmap for a complex enterprise-level Salesforce environment. 

  • Strong experience with governance, change management, and release management processes in an agile development environment. 

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus at all levels of the organization. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage external vendors and system integrators effectively. 

  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales/Service Cloud Consultant) are highly preferred. 

  • Experience in the healthcare or financial services industry is a plus.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.

Base Salary Range

$169,000.00 - $225,000.00

At Zelis we are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation packages. The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
