At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Personalis is based in Fremont, California.

Summary:

As the Director of Sales Training at Personalis, you will be the architect of our commercial excellence. You are responsible for ensuring our direct sales organization is not only equipped with the latest clinical data but also mastered in the art of the complex sale. You will bridge the gap between Medical Affairs and Sales, transforming complex concepts into actionable strategies that win in the clinic.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute a world-class "New Hire Excellence" program that reduces ramp-up time for Territory Managers.
  • Develop a curriculum covering the Personalis value proposition, the clinical utility of our assays, and the competitive landscape.
  • Implement ongoing training for the sales team, focusing on clinical messaging, objection handling, and account management.
  • Partner with the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team to synthesize complex clinical data into "sales-ready" messaging.
  • Establish and lead a regular cadence for presenting competitive intelligence, ensuring the sales team is prepared to pivot against market shifts and competitor claims.
  • Distill technical white papers and trial results into high-impact talk tracks and sales tools.
  • Manage the training tech stack (e.g., LMS, Sales Enablement platforms) to track completion and competency metrics.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure all sales collateral is integrated into training modules and used effectively in the field.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or the Life Sciences is required
  • Experience: 10+ years in Sales Training or Sales Enablement within the Diagnostics, Biotech, or Medical Device sectors (Oncology experience highly preferred).
  • Ability to "speak the language" of MSLs and Oncologists while translating that knowledge into a commercial context.
  • Proven track record of leading training initiatives that directly resulted in increased quota attainment.
  • Exceptional presentation skills

The hiring range for this position is $200,000 to $235,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
