Your role at Dynatrace
The Director of Revenue Accounting is responsible for overseeing the revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely revenue reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role involves leading a team of managers and revenue accountants, implementing and maintaining revenue accounting policies, systems, and controls. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert of ASC 606 for a Software/SaaS company, who brings a solution-focused mindset to collaborating with cross-functional business partners, including Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, Order/License Management, FP&A, and Deal Desk.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accurate and monthly reporting of revenue and commissions accounting in compliance with accounting standards including ASC 606 and ASC 340 for a public Software and SaaS company.
  • Ensure proper design, implementation and compliance of revenue accounting policies, systems, controls and procedures.
  • Collaborate with and serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams, including sales, deal desk, legal, and FP&A, to resolve revenue recognition issues and ensure alignment on contract terms and conditions.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and assessments of revenue recognition processes and controls identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of our processes and control environment.
  • Continuously research updates to accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition, assessing the impact on the company's accounting policies and practices.
  • Lead a high-performing and high-potential team, serving as a strong positive leader, coach, and advisor who is willing to roll up his or her sleeves to work alongside the team and sharing process and technical expertise to continually improve the organization's capabilities.
  • Manage revenue accounting whitepapers and studies such as Standalone Selling Price Analysis, Combined Performance Obligation, Variable Consideration, evaluation of new GTM offerings and announcements, and Significant Contract revenue checklists.
  • Manage Internal and External Audit requirements.
  • Analyze revenue trends and variances as part of monthly close analytics process.

This is a hybrid role (2 days per week) out of our Boston, MA office.
What will help you succeed
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a public accounting or technical revenue accounting people leadership role.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • CPA Licensure required.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and accounting standards specifically in the Software/SaaS industry.
  • NetSuite and Salesforce expertise is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Compensation Data
DOE, salary $190K - $210K, plus Health, Dental, Life, STD, LTD, 401K, PTO. Total compensation may vary depending on candidate experience/education and location.
