Intro to Folia

Measure what matters.

Nell and Dan founded Folia Health because it has been simply too hard for their family members to receive personalized, data-driven healthcare that directly addresses the issues they're dealing with. People around the country and now the world, including our own team members and families, use Folia to track what they're experiencing - fatigue, symptom flares, pain - alongside what they're currently doing for treatment, and then use this information to understand the best way forward. Most Folia users also receive Data Dividends to share their data as part of our Research Programs, the business model that keeps Folia humming along.

Along the journey of building Folia, we've developed and validated a new type of health data - home-reported outcomes (or HROs). HROs allow people dealing with complex conditions to digitize their vast personal health knowledge, with simple responses to a personalized set of multiple-choice questions whenever they're experiencing a change in their health. HROs are actually now a valued part of the research methods that leading life sciences companies use to understand how their therapies are impacting people in the real world.

Folia (‘foglia’ is leaf in Italian) was named for the power of the individual contributions of people tracking their own health experiences. Each individual contributor is a leaf on the tree, performing important tasks to enable the whole (healthcare) tree to grow and become stronger - ultimately benefitting the leaf itself. (Yes we may have taken the metaphor too far...)

We are:

  • Female-founded and led by parents and family caregivers

  • Stubbornly focused on making healthcare make sense

  • 9 years in business

  • Backed by top venture funds with a strong financial runway

  • Made possible by our fast-growing user community with thousands of users in rare conditions

Folia is searching for a strategic leader to build and scale our Research Marketing function as a Director of Research Marketing (B2B). This role will focus on shaping how we share Folia’s groundbreaking research with the broader healthcare ecosystem — from scientific conferences and journal publications to white papers, case studies, and additional outputs distributed through digital channels. You’ll ensure that Folia’s research and data are presented in ways that strengthen our reputation, grow our partnerships, and drive adoption among B2B audiences including researchers, clinicians, and industry collaborators.

What You'll Do

  • Set the vision and operational flow for research marketing across all B2B channels including conferences, publications, digital, and partner-facing materials.
  • Develop and own the roadmap for how Folia presents and disseminates its research, building credibility and visibility with healthcare and life sciences stakeholders.
  • Organize our research and evidence base, ensuring our materials communicate both rigor and the patient-first ethos that defines Folia.
  • Partner internally with the research leads team to surface ongoing new insights in a scaleable way.
  • Assist in the execution of high-quality client-facing outputs including abstracts, posters, presentations, reports, case studies, white papers, and website content.
  • Represent Folia externally by managing and securing our presence at conferences and industry events, and ensuring alignment of message and brand.

You Are

  • An experienced B2B marketing leader with at least 4+ years of experience in research, healthcare, life sciences, or healthtech.
  • Skilled at translating complex research into clear, persuasive narratives that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experienced in conference and publication strategy and logistics, including event presence and post-conference amplification.
  • Entrepreneurial and adaptable, excited by the opportunity to grow a new function at a fast-growing startup.
  • Not satisfied with the status quo for people living with complex chronic conditions.

Compensation

The base salary range is $120,000-$150,000. If you're not based in the general Boston area and are willing to relocate, we will compensate you for reasonable expenses. The starting salary will be determined  commensurate with experience. The full compensation package includes stock option grants and additional benefits, including Health, Dental, Vision, and 401k plan.
