LaunchSquad helps innovative brands tell their stories. Since 2000, we’ve partnered with leading technology, consumer lifestyle, and media companies to create integrated earned, owned, and digital programs that build awareness and drive growth.

We’re looking for a Director of Public Relations & Communications to lead integrated media relations, executive communications, and digital storytelling programs for climate and energy companies like Mantel, Lunar Energy, and Carbon180. LaunchSquad has a flexible, hybrid environment. Fully remote or hybrid candidates are welcome to apply.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity can counsel clients, guide teams, and lead the moments that matter: major announcements, narrative pivots, creative campaigns, and key business milestones. They have a strong foundation in technology communications and climate/energy, and a track record of success producing full-funnel communications programs.

Account Directors at LaunchSquad lead four to five client accounts, partnering with senior leaders and clients to build and run narrative-driven communications programs. They translate complexity into clear, compelling stories and drive how and where those stories show up across media, executive platforms, and social channels. They’ll also play a key role in developing talent, coaching teams, upholding high-quality work standards, and helping others grow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and run full-funnel, integrated communications programs across earned media, executive thought leadership, owned content, and digital/social channels
  • Manage client relationships, providing strategic counsel and anticipating program needs
  • Shape and lead high-impact moments like launches, announcements, funding, and policy milestones
  • Partner with executives to develop thought leadership platforms, including planning and execution with bylines, LinkedIn, speaking engagements, and reactive commentary.
  • Identify and activate timely storytelling opportunities tied to industry, policy, and cultural moments
  • Write and edit high-impact materials, including messaging frameworks, brand narratives, thought leadership, and long-form and social content
  • Build and maintain strong media relationships across tech, climate, and energy sectors
  • Lead and mentor teams, ensuring high-quality work and supporting growth and advancement
  • Manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of experience in public relations, communications, and editorial content (some agency and/or high-growth tech experience preferred)
  • Strong background in technology communications and experience in climate, energy, or sustainability sectors; familiarity with public affairs, policy, or regulatory environments is a plus
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives
  • Strong writer and editor with experience developing both executive thought leadership and POV-driven content, and owned editorial and visual content like blogs, whitepapers, FAQs, data reports, and short-form videos
  • Strong media instincts and a track record of developing story angles and securing high-impact coverage across top-tier and industry outlets.
  • Deep understanding of how stories move across media, newsletters, LinkedIn, and other digital channels
  • Experience leading teams and developing talent
  • Highly organized, strong communicator, and comfortable managing multiple priorities

At LaunchSquad, we care about our work, our clients, and our community. We are a people-first company committed to making sure everyone has a great experience and an equal opportunity to grow and succeed.

If you’re excited about leading clients, shaping narratives, and working at the intersection of technology and climate/energy, we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
