This role will lead the PMO and provide senior and experienced thought leadership in the field of Project Management (PM) from near term administration and optimization to long term strategic planning for the future of PM.

BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Programs to lead the Project Management Office (PMO) for our Platforms and Services (P&S) Sector. This role will lead the PMO and provide senior and experienced thought leadership in the field of Project Management (PM) from near term administration and optimization to long term strategic planning for the future of PM.
- Open to virtual with a strong preference to be close to a P&S site.
- There will be on average 25% of travel, including domestic and international sites.
Responsibilities:
People Capability:
- Together with the sector PMA and business area PMOs, set the strategy and focus areas for the development of the PM capability for the P&S Sector
- Determine the core training and development solutions needed for the P&S sector and partner to ensure optimization of offerings and enrollment across all businesses
- Instruct PM leaders across the core training curriculum and elective training courses where needed
- Act as a senior leader representative to support the training provider in ICP3 and PLBP
- Develop training in partnership across the global enterprise
Mentoring and Organizational Development:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to PM leaders across the sector
- Guide and advise businesses to determine need for improved PM people capability, tools, and processes
- Assist portfolios to develop their project teams
- Use working knowledge of PM technical skills with portfolios, programs, and projects to improve knowledge and application of these skills
- Partner across the enterprise to develop LCM awareness and training solutions
Life Cycle Management (LCM) Governance:
- Assist the sector and business area project management authorities, engineering authorities, line leaders, capture managers, project managers, project engineering mangers, chairs, and assessors with LCM expertise, guidance, and advice
- Develop, deploy, and teach training solutions for all LCM roles (e.g. LCM Pathways)
- Together with the sector PMA, set the strategy for effective application of LCM across P&S
- Set and deploy the communications and information strategy for LCM across P&S
- Develop and maintain key automation tools employed in LCM governance across P&S
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
- Experience in Program/Project Management
- A successful track record of project, program, portfolio, and/or capture leadership
- In depth working knowledge of PM technical, integration, and leadership skills with the ability to work with portfolios and programs to improve knowledge and application of these skills
- A working understanding and experience of LCM, with an expectation to chair and assess projects across P&S and the wider enterprise
- Ability to partner to develop PM execution and training solutions across the sector and the larger BAE Systems enterprise
- Ability to diagnose issues within PM teams and PMOs, working with the teams to create improvement plans
- Good organization and communication skills with the ability to lead with influence

- PM Certification
- Expertise in Lifecycle Management (LCM)
- Experience in PMO leadership
- Experience in PM process development or improvement
- Experience in PM training and development
- Experience in Defense Contracting
