***DIRECTOR, PRODUCT MANAGEMENT – SUNRISE***

Remote U.S.-based Role

 PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Director of Product Management will own the strategic vision, market differentiation, and end-to-end execution for critical new product offers and existing add-on modules within the Sunrise clinical ecosystem. This includes leading the charge on innovative solutions like patient engagement and advanced analytics, with a focus on driving measurable clinical, operational, and financial value for our clients, both for existing and net-new opportunities.

This leader will define product direction, manage roadmaps, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that drive measurable clinical, operational, and financial value for our clients. This role requires a future-forward visionary who brings strong EHR domain knowledge, has a proven track record of visioning and delivering differentiated products, and can effectively influence across departmental boundaries. The ideal candidate has previously held a senior product role in a healthcare technology company, is comfortable leading through ambiguity, and excels at coaching both product managers and business analysts, especially in leveling up novice team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and ownership of the product lifecycle for new and existing offerings, from strategic market research and competitive analysis to roadmap planning, delivery, and robust go-to-market support.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer and market, partnering closely with clinicians, clients, internal stakeholders, and sales teams to identify high-impact problems, validate solutions, and ensure market fit.
  • Define, evangelize, and execute a compelling product vision and priorities that align with overall R&D and business goals, including crafting 1.5-year blueprints alongside product director peers.
  • Drive comprehensive go-to-market strategies, collaborating closely with commercial, marketing, and support teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing adoption.
  • Act as a hands-on mentor and coach for a team of Product Managers and Business Analysts (up to 10 direct reports), actively strengthening their expertise in product thinking, backlog management, user story creation, and cross-functional influence.
  • Drive discovery and delivery for modular add-on products within a complex enterprise EHR ecosystem, getting deep into requirements, workflows, and tactical details to ensure vision translates into reality.
  • Ensure usability, clinical workflow integration, system interoperability, and overall product quality are core to every release, actively engaging with development and QE teams.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies (e.g., AI), and competitor activities — especially in mobile-first care and patient engagement solutions — to proactively inform and differentiate product strategy.
  • Present product strategy and updates to internal leadership, clients, and external stakeholders with clarity, confidence, and compelling storytelling.
  • Work closely with development leads and in collaboration with the broader product team, planning sprints, mitigating risks, and ensuring seamless execution.

 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Master’s preferred in healthcare, business, informatics, or technology field

Work Experience

  • 8+ years in Product Management, including 3+ years in a director-level or principal-level role, demonstrating significant experience in leading and scaling product teams.
  • Proven success in building, launching, and leading new product offers or significant modules within complex enterprise software in healthcare technology.
  • Deep understanding of provider-side clinical workflows, revenue cycle integration, and patient experience best practices; strong grasp of system inputs, outputs, and dependencies within a core EHR system (clinical background required; understanding of the ecosystem is critical).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, emotional intelligence, and servant leadership, particularly in matrixed organizations with dotted-line reporting to development teams.
  • Extensive experience with patient engagement strategies and solutions is highly preferred, alongside mobile product design and cloud-based delivery models.
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies, including backlog management, user story creation, and breaking down complex features into actionable requirements.
  • Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and stakeholder alignment skills, with the ability to synthesize complexity into simple, compelling decisions.
  • Significant prior experience mentoring, coaching, and developing product managers and/or business analysts, with a track record of elevating team performance.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
