Job Overview

Prendio-BioProcure is the leading, purpose-built eProcurement and payments platform for biotech, partnering with early-stage and scaling life-science companies to find savings and extend cash runway so scientists can focus on bringing life-changing therapies to market. Supporting hundreds of labs and billions in annual spend, our unified platform combines intuitive workflows, deep integrations, and biotech-specific expertise, and scales from new lab formation through clinical development, embedding payments, CRO, and services discovery, and data-driven insights to make procurement faster, easier, and more cost-effective.

We are seeking a Director of Product Design to establish and lead our design discipline at Prendio. This role will span the full spectrum of discovery to delivery: uncovering user needs, translating them into strategy, and bringing them to life in intuitive, elegant product experiences. You’ll serve as both a hands-on designer and a strategic leader, creating the foundation for a design organization that can scale with the company.

This is a rare opportunity to build a design function from the ground up in a high-growth, domain-specific SaaS platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Discovery & Research: Lead generative and evaluative research with scientists, lab operations, finance teams, and other stakeholders to uncover unmet needs.
• Design Execution: Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that solve real problems with clarity and simplicity.
• Design Strategy: Define the design vision and principles that guide Prendio’s user experience across procurement, payments, CRO marketplace, and analytics.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Client Success to ensure user-centered design is embedded across the product lifecycle.
• Foundation Building: Establish core design processes, tools, and systems (design system, component libraries, design ops) that enable scale.
• Mentorship & Growth: Serve as the first design leader with the mandate to build and grow the team over time, mentoring junior designers as they are added.
• Voice of the User: Champion scientists, finance leads, and operations managers inside the company, ensuring their workflows and pain points shape product outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 10+ years in product design, with a portfolio spanning SaaS products, enterprise workflows, and user-facing experiences.
• Leadership Style: Hands-on designer who can also define design strategy and shape an organization.
• Domain Knowledge: Experience designing complex workflows in procurement, life sciences, enterprise SaaS, or fintech a strong plus.
• Craft Excellence: Proven ability to turn research into beautiful, usable, and scalable product experiences.
• Systems Thinking: Strong grasp of design systems and how to embed them in product development.
• Collaboration: Fluent in partnering with product and engineering leaders to deliver impactful outcomes.
• Location: Boston area strongly preferred;
