Job Category
Modernize, a QuinStreet company, is hiring a Director of Product and Content Marketing to lead our B2B product marketing and content strategy across a multi-product portfolio in the home services vertical. This is a senior leadership role responsible for owning how Modernize positions, messages, and goes to market with its products, while driving the content engine that supports demand generation, sales enablement, and brand authority.
The Director will manage a small team of product and content marketers, build the operational infrastructure needed to scale a high-volume content and product marketing function, and serve as a key cross-functional partner to Sales, Marketing, Account Management, and Product. We are looking for a strategic operator with deep roots in the home improvement or home services industry who can lead with vision and execute with discipline.
Why You’ll Enjoy This Role
- You own the narrative. As the senior leader for product and content marketing, you define how Modernize shows up in market, how its products are positioned, and how its content strategy drives business outcomes.
- You lead a team. You will manage, coach, and grow a small team of marketers, with direct influence over how the function develops over time.
- You work at the intersection of strategy and execution. This role is both a thought leadership seat and an operational one. You set direction and then build the systems to make it run.
- You have cross-functional reach. You partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Account Management, and Product giving you broad visibility into the business and meaningful influence over go-to-market decisions.
- You see the impact of your work. With clear success metrics tied to pipeline, sales enablement, and content performance, your contributions are measurable and visible.
Who You Are
- A strategic leader. You can articulate a clear product marketing vision and translate it into a roadmap your team can execute against. You are equally comfortable presenting to executives and rolling up your sleeves.
- An industry expert. You have meaningful experience in home improvement, home services, or an adjacent B2B vertical and bring credibility and context to every decision.
- A systems builder. You create structure where none exists. You design processes for intake, prioritization, and output management that allow a small team to operate at high volume without sacrificing quality.
- A skilled cross-functional partner. You influence stakeholders you do not manage, align Product and Sales around shared messaging, and navigate competing priorities with clarity and professionalism.
- A strong communicator and writer. You produce executive-ready materials, give clear direction, and coach your team to raise the bar on written output.
- Data-informed. You use performance data to prioritize content investments, evaluate messaging effectiveness, and make the case for resource allocation.
- A calm operator under pressure. You manage high volumes of concurrent projects and competing stakeholder needs without losing focus on what matters most.
Responsibilities
Product Marketing
- Own the product marketing strategy across Modernize’s multi-product B2B portfolio, including positioning, messaging, and go-to-market planning for each product and audience segment.
- Develop and maintain audience personas, competitive intelligence, and market insights that inform product direction and sales strategy.
- Partner with Product to shape the product roadmap narrative and ensure new features and capabilities are launched with clear, compelling messaging.
- Build and maintain sales enablement materials including pitch decks, one-pagers, objection handling guides, and competitive battle cards.
- Ensure brand and product positioning is accurate, consistent, and audience-appropriate across all in-market activations and channels.
Content Marketing
- Own the B2B content strategy end to end: editorial calendar, content types, channels, and performance measurement.
- Lead the creation of high-quality content across formats (thought leadership, case studies, whitepapers, blog, email, sales collateral) that drives awareness, pipeline, and retention.
- Manage and develop a small team of content and product marketers, providing coaching, clear direction, and accountability for output quality and deadlines.
- Build and manage the operational infrastructure for a high-volume content function, including intake and prioritization processes, approval workflows, and reporting templates.
- Establish and enforce content standards that reflect Modernize’s brand voice and market authority in the home services vertical.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the primary content marketing partner to Sales leadership, ensuring messaging, enablement materials, and content programs are aligned to pipeline goals.
- Collaborate with the B2B Marketing team to ensure product and content marketing are integrated into campaign strategy.
- Present strategy, performance, and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear, executive-ready format.
- Identify and flag risks, resource constraints, and prioritization trade-offs proactively, with a clear recommendation for resolution.
Requirements
- 8+ years of B2B product marketing and/or content marketing experience, with at least 2 years in a people management role.
- Demonstrated experience in the home improvement, home services, financial services, mortgage, or lead generation industry.
- Proven track record of building and scaling a content and product marketing function, including developing team members and establishing operational processes.
- Strong portfolio of go-to-market work including product launches, sales enablement programs, and content strategies that drove measurable business impact.
- Experience marketing a multi-product B2B portfolio to enterprise or mid-market buyers.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce executive-ready materials and coach a team to do the same.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with high project volume, competing priorities, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Experience working within a publicly traded company, with a strong emphasis on communication, compliance awareness, and corporate protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with marketing automation platforms (Eloqua, HubSpot or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Salesforce reporting and BI tools (Tableau or equivalent).
- Experience managing a fully remote marketing function.
