As a Director at CrossCountry Consulting you will be responsible for a mix of client delivery, business development, leading teams and developing junior team members, as well as serving as a member of CrossCountry’s leadership team.
In today’s competitive deal market, Private Equity is increasingly turning to operational enhancements as a driver for value creation in their investment portfolio. It is essential for Private Equity funds to have a portfolio support team, either internally or externally, to guide CFOs as they build a scalable accounting and finance function that supports the investment thesis. We are experienced operators, who serve as an extension of leading Private Equity sponsors to drive meaningful and sustainable operational changes across their portfolios.
What You'll Do:
- Serve clients within the “Office of the CFO” at private equity portfolio companies, creating a diagnostic framework and enhancing the effectiveness of the finance function
- Own stakeholder relationships at portfolio company to scope, clarify, and deliver superior client service
- Identify new growth and shared revenue opportunities, collaborating with sales leadership to originate new business, grow existing relationships and increase bookings
- Liaise with buy-side due diligence teams (M&A, outside counsel) to ensure a smooth transition to post-closing period
- Assist with various complex PE-driven initiatives, including post-closing net working capital settlement, purchase accounting, accounting method changes (cash to accrual)
- Provide guidance and leadership for financial reporting including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flow
- Lead client finance and/or accounting functions, including accounting and operational process improvements, consolidation and reporting, financial reporting preparation, board and management reporting, system strategy/selection (if needed), and advise on accounting policy
- Advocate on behalf of clients and represent clients' needs appropriately to leadership
- Actively participate in business development opportunities and market a full range of services to prospective clients including using existing relationships to generate new opportunities
- Identify key industry developments and trends and articulate potential impact on clients
- Lead coaching family by serving as a role model, coach, mentor, and liaison to the leadership team
What You'll Bring:
- 10+ years of experience working in a client facing role at public accounting firm, consulting firm or a combination of consulting and industry experience
- Experience addressing the unique requirements of the Private Equity consulting environment
- Knowledge and proficiency in leading and implementing best practices to optimize finance and accounting functions
- Extensive experience in working with transactions and related integration activities
- In-depth knowledge of accounting standards including US GAAP and/or IFRS
- Demonstrated ability to advise on and research complex technical accounting and transaction issues
- Excellent strategic planning and operational deployment skills, with the ability to provide strategic direction to team members
- Knowledge of key technology solutions within the Office of the CFO, including ERP and EPM
- Proven ability to generate leads from a network outside of existing client work
- Experience with -OR- significant exposure to various data analytics tools such as: Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL, Python, etc.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members and helping project teams resolve multi-faceted issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or CA certification preferred
- Willingness to travel up to 40%; travel varies based on client preferences
