Summary of Position

The Privacy team at Teladoc Health is responsible for enabling the company to innovate in digital health while protecting the privacy of our workforce and the members we serve.

The Director, Privacy sits within the Legal Department and reports directly to the Chief Privacy Officer. You will partner closely with Product, Marketing, Data and AI, and Engineering teams to build privacy into Teladoc’s digital experiences from the start. This includes advising on the use of digital advertising and tracking technologies, AI tools, and other emerging technologies in healthcare environments where privacy expectations and regulatory requirements are especially high.

In this role, you will translate complex privacy requirements into clear, practical guidance that enables teams to move quickly while managing risk. You will help design scalable privacy guardrails that allow the business to innovate responsibly, particularly in areas involving digital marketing, data analytics, and new technology platforms.

  • Partner with Product, Marketing, Data & AI, and Engineering teams to embed privacy into Teladoc’s digital products, marketing technologies, and customer experiences.
  • Provide practical privacy guidance on the use of digital advertising and tracking technologies (e.g., cookies, pixels, SDKs, tag managers, attribution tools) in healthcare environments.
  • Lead privacy assessments for new technologies, marketing initiatives, and data uses, translating regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for business and technical teams.
  • Support the development and execution of Teladoc’s enterprise privacy program, including operational risk assessments, privacy-by-design initiatives, and program roadmap activities.
  • Lead preparation of privacy program reporting for the Enterprise Compliance Committee, including communicating key privacy wins and metrics to senior leadership.

The time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 5–7 years of experience in privacy, data governance, or regulatory compliance within healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or CIPP/US, preferred but not required.
  • Deep understanding of digital advertising ecosystems and tracking technologies (e.g., cookies, pixels, SDKs, tag managers, attribution tools), including the privacy risks associated with their use in healthcare environments.
  • Experience assessing and mitigating privacy risks related to digital marketing technologies, analytics platforms, and emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Strong knowledge of major privacy frameworks and regulations, including HIPAA and U.S. consumer privacy laws.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex privacy requirements into clear, practical guidance for business and technical teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate privacy risks and program updates to senior leadership.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
