General Description:
The Director, Portfolio Strategic Pricing will support the development and execution of U.S. pricing and contracting strategies for in-line and pipeline assets. This role will provide the critical insights, analysis, and policy-driven perspectives that inform pricing choices for both in-line and pipeline products. By integrating policy developments, marketplace dynamics, and financial modeling, the Director will ensure that pricing strategies remain forward-looking, competitive, and aligned with evolving U.S. healthcare policies. The position will work cross-functionally across Market Access, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Government Pricing, and other stakeholders to enable effective execution and decision-making. This role will report to the Senior Director, Market Access Channel and GTN Strategy.
Essential Functions of the job:
- Lead portfolio-wide pricing analyses, models, and scenario planning to inform list price evolution, net price realization, and gross-to-net projections.
- Serve as the policy and pricing subject matter expert, assessing implications of legislative and regulatory changes (e.g., IRA negotiation, MFN, ASP reforms, Medicaid Best Price, AMP changes) and developing mitigation strategies.
- Drive scenario planning, forecasting, and modeling to evaluate the financial and access impact of policy changes, competitive dynamics, and contracting approaches.
- Drive Average Sales Price (ASP) forecasting and scenario planning in support of product launch readiness, competitive positioning, and gross-to-net projections.
- Partner with Government Pricing and Compliance to ensure contracts and pricing strategies meet all federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Provide policy and pricing insights to senior leadership, influencing corporate strategy and positioning in response to U.S. healthcare policy changes.
- Monitor ASP trends, reimbursement benchmarks, and customer feedback to inform pricing strategy and proactively address risks to net price realization.
- Develop channel specific strategies for policy changes (e.g., Inflation Reduction Act, Medicaid Best Price, ASP-based reimbursement shifts) and develop mitigation strategies as needed.
- Support cross-functional launch readiness for pipeline assets, ensuring pricing, reimbursement, and policy implications are incorporated into product strategies.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Government Pricing to ensure contracts meet regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech and/or healthcare industry, with a strong focus on pricing, reimbursement, and policy strategy.
- Deep understanding of U.S. health policy, including IRA, MFN, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, ASP-based models, and government pricing regulations.
- Expertise in market access dynamics and pricing landscapes, including a deep understanding of pricing and provider economics, reimbursement models, and government pricing regulations.
- Experience in developing pricing and contracting strategies for both in-line and pipeline products.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; ability to translate complex policy and market dynamics into actionable strategies.
- Proven ability to collaborate across large matrixed organizations and influence senior leadership.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to convey technical and policy concepts to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Flexible, diplomatic, and able to navigate ambiguity in a rapidly evolving policy environment.
- Possess leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence different styles.
- Able to identify and implement recommendations for improving processes and efficiency.
- Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across all key internal & external stakeholders, including executive management.
- Positive attitude to embrace occasional special projects as part of collaborative team or individual contributor.
- Ability to travel 15-25% domestic.
