The Director, People Technology is responsible for partnering with functional stakeholders on the People team to understand organizational strategy, identify technology solutions to meet their needs, and partner with IT stakeholders to deliver the People Technology roadmap. Reporting to the Vice President, People Operations, Rewards, and Technology (PORT), this role will partner directly with People leaders and cross-functional partners to define a multi-year roadmap and lead our People Technology transformation as we continue to enhance our digital experience as a Virtual First company.
As the People Technology leader, this role focuses on technology strategy and operations, while working closely with cross-functional technology teams on implementations, integrations, and configurations. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator and partner, a creative problem solver, and has demonstrated innovation and technical expertise, including direct experience in Workday and a broad range of People systems (ATS, LMS, etc.). This hands-on role demands deep knowledge of HR strategy, process design, and requires an experienced leader who can influence stakeholders and inspire a team.
Responsibilities- Develop and champion a multi-year vision and roadmap for People Technology, designing a tech stack that optimizes the employee experience
- Manage the portfolio of People systems and initiatives from initiation to launch; manage project intake and consult with cross-functional stakeholders to establish prioritization against the roadmap
- Build and lead a team of technology professionals, providing guidance, support, and commitment to growth and professional development
- Meet technology needs through partnership, influence, and collaboration across all internal stakeholders to ensure consistent, effective design and implementation of cross-functional solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional technology teams to create a seamless employee experience through integrated systems and tools; emphasize scalability and sustainability in all design decisions
- Provide guidance to functional People leaders to ensure best practices and optimization of core infrastructure; provide recommendations for adoption, enhancements, and future system capabilities
- Improve operational excellence, including strengthening project management methodology/tools, documentation, and adherence to compliance standards
- Analyze people technology industry trends and stay ahead of new innovations to inform the technology roadmap and long-term vision
- Oversee the assessment and selection of systems, as well as maintaining and strengthening vendor relationships in partnership with procurement.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and leading people technology initiatives (HRIS/HRIT, ATS, LMS, etc.)
- Experience leading system assessments and implementations, including project management, issue management, communications, and change management
- Expertise in Workday required; experience in Greenhouse preferred
- Deep knowledge of HR strategy, processes, and best practices
- Experience managing vendors and strengthening external partnerships
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a global, matrixed environment
- Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Experience leading a globally distributed team, including working with/managing contractors and technical resources
- Experience operating in and building an auditable and compliant software ecosystem
