About the Role

As Director of People Operations at Wheel, you will lead the design and execution of People Operations programs across talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, and employee experience. You will partner with managers and leaders across the company including Finance & Accounting, Operations, R&D, Customer Success, and Sales and Marketing to ensure that Wheel has best practices for employee experience and engagement. You will collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that employees have an environment that supports individual and team productivity and growth while also supporting the continued growth of the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and optimize People Operations across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding, ensuring scalable, compliant, and people-centered processes.

  • Implement AI in order to optimize processes and improve the manager and employee experience

  • Ensure compliance with all employment requirements, including employment documentation and state-by-state regulations, while proactively mitigating risk as the company scales.

  • Shape a thoughtful People communications strategy that supports engagement, transparency, and connection, reinforcing Wheel’s culture and values across the employee experience.

  • Lead performance management frameworks and processes - goal setting, reviews, feedback, and development planning - to ensure consistency that empowers managers and employees.

  • Establish a culture of continuous learning and development through proactive feedback and goal-setting.

  • Oversee People systems and tools (including HRIS and Ashby), as well as employee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a strong employee experience.

  • Create and scale innovative engagement programs that support connection, belonging, and performance in a remote-first environment.

Who you are

  • 5-7+ years of People Operations experience, including 3-5+ years in HR Business Partner roles.

  • A strong collaborator. You work well across various teams with strong project management skills to coordinate between multiple groups in order to deliver projects on time..

  • A leader. You demonstrate strong leadership and mentorship skills to attract, retain and scale high-performing teams.

  • A strategic thought partner. You possess exceptional critical thinking abilities and can be a thought partner to leaders as they scale their teams.

  • An HR compliance subject matter expert.

  • An effective communicator. You demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to summarize detailed information in order to facilitate actionable recommendations and decisions by senior leadership.

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Operations, or a related field.

  • Experience in Healthcare or digital health highly desirable.

Salary and Perks

Pay Range: $170,000 - 230,000 base compensation. Also, a 10% bonus will be included.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
