About The Role

The Paid Social Director is responsible for leading paid social strategy, client performance, and team development across a portfolio of eCommerce brands. This person brings deep expertise in performance marketing, a strong understanding of the eCommerce landscape, and the ability to translate complex business challenges into actionable strategies that drive measurable growth.

We're looking for a confident, proactive leader with strong opinions and the expertise to back them up. Someone who takes ownership, challenges conventional thinking, and isn't afraid to push clients and teams toward better solutions. They bring exceptional executive presence, inspire confidence in high-stakes conversations, and balance big-picture thinking with the technical depth to diagnose performance challenges and guide teams toward solutions.

Beyond client leadership, this role plays a critical part in elevating the quality of work across Code3's Paid Social practice. The Director will develop strong managers, establish clear standards for accountability and execution, and foster a culture of curiosity, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Success in this role requires someone who can lead with conviction, operate with urgency, and empower teams to consistently deliver exceptional work.

Note, hands on keys experience within social UIs is a requirement for this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead paid social strategy, performance, and client health across a portfolio of eCommerce brands, overseeing full funnel media planning, creative strategy, testing, measurement, and long-term account growth.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior client stakeholders, confidently leading executive-level conversations, navigating complex challenges, and delivering clear, data-backed recommendations that drive business outcomes.
  • Bring deep technical and strategic expertise to diagnose performance challenges, pressure-test account strategies, identify optimization opportunities, and guide teams toward stronger results across major paid social platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing managers and teams, establishing clear expectations, driving accountability, addressing performance gaps, and fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous learning.
  • Establish and scale best practices across campaign execution, budget management, strategic planning, reporting, and client communication while proactively identifying risks and improving operational efficiency across teams.
  • Champion innovation, creative effectiveness, and thought leadership by translating emerging platform capabilities, consumer trends, and measurement advancements into actionable opportunities for clients and the broader agency.

Who will love this role:

  • A highly organized, action-oriented leader who thrives on ownership, brings structure to complexity, and holds themselves and others to high standards.
  • A bold, opinionated strategist who has strong, informed perspectives, challenges the status quo, and isn't afraid to push back when there's a better way forward.
  • An exceptional communicator who commands a room, builds credibility with senior stakeholders, and genuinely enjoys leading complex client conversations.
  • A people-first leader who is passionate about developing talent, building a high-performing team culture, and creating an environment of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • An endlessly curious eCommerce and paid social enthusiast who loves digging into performance, exploring emerging trends, and sharing knowledge to make the entire team stronger.

You should have:

  • 8+ years of paid social experience, including significant agency experience leading strategy and performance for eCommerce brands.
  • Extensive eCommerce expertise, with a proven track record driving profitable growth for DTC and retail brands, and a deep understanding of customer acquisition, ROAS, CAC, LTV, conversion optimization, and full funnel measurement.
  • Advanced hands-on expertise across major paid social platforms, particularly Meta and TikTok, with strong working knowledge of Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube, Reddit, and emerging platforms.
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams, holding direct reports accountable, addressing performance challenges, and consistently elevating strategic and operational quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently audit accounts, diagnose performance trends, develop actionable optimization strategies, and connect media performance to broader eCommerce business outcomes.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and confidently navigating high-pressure situations.
  • Strong understanding of creative strategy, testing methodologies, attribution, incrementality, and performance measurement, with the ability to turn complex data into clear strategic recommendations.
