Position Summary:
Zenas BioPharma is seeking an experienced Director, New Product Planning and Competitive Intelligence to proactively contribute to New Product Planning activities and Lead Competitive Intelligence efforts. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development and New Product Planning the Director, New Product Planning and Competitive Intelligence is a highly visible role within the organization with a direct impact on Zenas BioPharma’s ambition to construct a robust pipeline of clinical/ nearing clinical stage immunology and autoimmune assets, building upon its lead asset, obexelimab and supporting business development diligence efforts. This individual will drive initiatives to ensure Zenas BioPharma is up to date on market trends and competitor strategies and positioned for success. She/He will bring substantial disease-area opportunity assessment, competitive intelligence and business/corporate strategy expertise to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive intelligence gathering efforts through primary and secondary research.
- Lead the coordination, planning and execution of competitive coverage at conferences.
- Monitor and analyze competitor pipelines, clinical trial data, regulatory strategies, commercial activities, and market trends to provide insights on competitive threats and opportunities to inform product development and corporate strategies.
- Present actionable competitive insights ensuring competitive intelligence is timely, relevant, and high-quality to facilitate insights development by strategy, research, development, commercial, communications and other relevant internal teams.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the commercial/NPP/BD teams and other key stakeholders as they work through the strategy to drive pipeline advancement and expansion.
- Conduct market opportunity assessments and commercial forecasts to establish the value proposition and value creation trajectory for our pipeline programs.
- Develop target product profiles for internal programs and potential new programs. Support global development teams through the contribution of competitive insights to support clinical development planning and other activities.
- Contribute to business development diligence efforts through rigorous disease-area, epidemiologic, competitive landscape, and forecast assessments.
- Work closely with the Finance team to support maintenance of financial models and conduct valuations for potential business development and other strategic projects.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors on competitive intelligence assessments and other strategic projects, as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (Ph.D. or MBA) preferred.
- 8+ years’ experience in biopharma, management consulting, or investment banking required.
- Experience with development strategy in life sciences, biotech, or adjacent industries.
- Proficient in the use of CI tools to support data-driven decision making.
- Able to synthesize primary and secondary CI and resultant impact to clearly convey complex information to senior leadership.
- Strong business judgement with an analytical mindset and experience in financial modeling and valuation.
- Highly collaborative leader, able to build consensus and drive results across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to navigate a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed for meetings and industry events (approximately 10-20%).
- Candidates in the greater Boston area and ability to be on-site 2 or more days a week preferred.

Zenas is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $185,600 to $232,000. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.
Zenas believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package to all employees. Our base salary is just one component of Zenas’ competitive total rewards strategy that also includes annual performance bonus, equity, full range of benefits and other incentive compensation plans.
