Director, Engineering (Americas)

The Director, Engineering will work with a Team of Engineers and Design Project Managers, and is responsible for multiple deliveries in the end to end process of Data Center facilities. In a fast paced and high demand environment, the Director of Engineering’s team supports Real Estate and Market Development with critical input on capacities, cost and risk of new developments. As projects move forward,  he/she is responsible for managing the team tasked with design timelines, budget review and business case preparation for new builds and expansions in the region and will manage risk, progress reporting and escalations in reporting to the SVP Engineering.  Given the magnitude of this role, the Director of Engineering should have a thorough understanding of Electrical and Mechanical Systems that support Critical Environments.  He/She should also be confident and knowledgeable in front of customers and other third parties seeking information on design, reliability and performance of our critical facilities.  Lastly, he/she should be innovative as reviewing and optimizing standards and processes in coordination with his/her peer in the other regions globally is continuous.  The position is based in Singapore office, and will be required to work in person with our local leadership, while embracing the travel needed to support our growth in the Americas region up to 50%.

At this time, we are only considering local candidates based in the U.S. that do not require new or a transfer of employee sponsorship.  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and Coordinate the Team responsible for Data Center Design Engineering services for the Americas
  • Assign Roles and Responsibilities, and ensure team is accountable for KPIs and deliverables
  • Establish Means and Methods in coordination with the directors for the other regions
  • Design Coordination/Management for new sites in this market as well as expansion projects
  • Construction Progress Reviews and Reporting
  • Americas regional and global travel (to other regions, mainly APAC & EMEA) will be required about 25-35% of the time, including times at short notice.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven extensive Data Center design and build experience
  • Electrical and Mechanical expertise with thorough understanding of enterprise MPE Systems that are supporting Critical Environments
  • Ability to work with and manage many groups and disciplines, including large vendors
  • Ability to prepare and manage budget and forecasts
  • Ability to develop and improve team collaboration, decision-making, and overall organization with an approach towards scalability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Superb customer service skills

Experience/Education

  • 10+ years of experience leading design for enterprise and hyperscale Data Center Engineering and Construction projects
  • 5+ years in a team leadership position overseeing Engineers focused on system designs in data center, power generation, and/or heavy industrial/manufacturing
  • Direct experience supporting the Americas region in terms of project workload with familiarity of power access and construction permitting in countries such as the U.S., Canada, and Chile
  • Track record of developing staff, as well as successful project completion, including on budget and on time
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent professional work experience

US Salary Range
$190,000$220,000 USD
