Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing Operations will own the systems, data, and processes that connect marketing activity to pipeline and revenue outcomes. This role leads the Martech stack, lead scoring and routing, campaign and funnel operations, attribution and marketing analytics, and serves as the connective tissue between Marketing, Sales, RevOps, and Customer Success. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable setting strategy and getting into the weeds of a workflow, a dashboard, or a data field.

Key Responsibilities:

Martech Stack Management

  • Own the architecture, administration, and roadmap of the marketing technology stack (e.g., Pardot, Salesforce, Demandbase, ChiliPiper webinar and event tools).
  • Evaluate, select, and implement new tools; manage vendor relationships, contracts, and renewals in partnership with Procurement and IT.
  • Maintain integrations between marketing, sales, and product systems, ensuring clean data flow across the tech ecosystem.
  • Establish stack governance: user permissions, workflow documentation, and a regular audit cadence to eliminate redundant or underused tools.

Lead Scoring, Routing & Funnel Management

  • Design, build, and continuously refine lead scoring models (fit + engagement) in partnership with Sales and Demand Generation.
  • Own lead lifecycle stage definitions (MQL, SQL, Opps) and service-level agreements between Marketing and Sales.
  • Build and maintain automated lead routing, alerting, and hand-off workflows to minimize speed-to-lead.
  • Monitor conversion rates by stage and source, and recommend model adjustments as buyer behavior and data quality evolve.

Marketing Analytics, Attribution & Reporting

  • Build multi-touch attribution models and dashboards that connect marketing programs to pipeline, bookings, and ROI.
  • Deliver regular reporting on campaign performance, funnel velocity, and channel efficiency to marketing and executive leadership.
  • Partner with RevOps/Finance on forecasting, marketing-sourced and marketing-influenced pipeline targets, and budget-to-pipeline analysis.

Data Governance & CRM Hygiene

  • Own data quality standards for the CRM and marketing automation platform, including deduplication, enrichment, segmentation, and field standardization.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CCPA) and manage subscription/consent preferences.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Team Leadership

  • Partner closely with Sales, RevOps, Customer Success, and IT to align systems, definitions, and processes across the customer lifecycle.
  • Hire, develop, and manage a team of marketing operations and/or automation specialists as the function scales.
  • Champion a culture of experimentation, testing, and continuous process improvement across the marketing organization.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of marketing operations experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role, ideally within B2B SaaS.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with a major marketing automation platform (Pardot strongly preferred) and CRM (Salesforce preferred).
  • Proven experience building and iterating on lead scoring and lifecycle/routing models.
  • Strong command of marketing analytics and attribution, with fluency in tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience managing a multi-tool martech stack, including vendor evaluation and integration management.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, or data warehousing concepts is a plus.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience in education technology, K-12, or independent school markets is a plus but not required.
  • North America based for integration with key stakeholders from RevOps, BizOps and IT.

Benefits
  • 3 weeks of vacation per year
  • 14 paid holidays per year (including the week off between Christmas and New Year's Eve)
  • 56 Hours of paid sick leave annually
  • Top tier benefits -
    • Medical, Dental & Vision (Blue Cross Blue Shield & EyeMed)
    • Veracross LLC Fidelity 401(k) Plan - Managed by Sentinel Benefits

Salary at Veracross is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. The compensation range for this position is $150k to $175k (annualized USD)

We value the power of an inclusive culture and a strong sense of belonging. Consideration and respect are the norm; and all team members are supported in reaching their full potential.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
