Risepoint assists primarily regional universities in increasing their access and impact by making their academic programs available to students online. Founded in 2007, Risepoint's mission is to expand access to high-quality, affordable, and workforce-relevant education, especially for working and adult students. Risepoint brings single-minded dedication to student success, an integrated set of services, and data-driven performance to our collaboration with university partners.

As Director of Marketing & Operations Strategy, you’ll report directly to the VP of Marketing & Ops Strategy and serve as a strategic partner to senior leaders across the organization. You'll operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, helping Risepoint stay ahead of the curve in a fast-paced, post-integration, growth-stage environment.

This is a high-impact role for a hands-on strategist and operator who thrives on shaping the future of marketing and operations—while driving results today. You will lead a high-performing team to drive high-priority initiatives across the marketing and operations landscape, with a remit that touches performance optimization, innovation, GTM strategy, and business transformation.
What You'll Do
  • Drive Strategic Transformation: Lead critical projects that shape the future of marketing and operations, from defining AI-enabled business processes to transforming our partner and student engagement strategies.
  • Pilot and Execute High-Impact Initiatives: Take ownership of pilots that put strategy into action—e.g., redesigning our organic marketing model, launching tech-enabled enrollment support, or reimagining our content operations.
  • Own Performance Strategy: Oversee the business cadence for Marketing & Ops—developing the metrics, dashboards, and rhythms that keep our teams aligned and accountable. Use data to drive decision-making and performance improvements.
  • Create Business Cases for Change: Scope and structure initiatives from idea to execution, developing compelling business cases backed by financial analysis, relative opportunity sizing, benchmarking, and user insight.
  • Act as an Insight Engine: Dig deep into our internal data and external benchmarks to uncover actionable insights—whether that’s surfacing friction in our GTM motion, identifying unmet partner/student needs, or evaluating tech/tooling ROI.
  • Shape the Menu of Strategic Offerings: Partner with stakeholders to evolve and sharpen the offerings we bring to market for university partners, ensuring they are compelling, differentiated, and rooted in operational excellence.
  • Align and Mobilize Stakeholders: Build trusted relationships across Marketing, Operations, Partner Management, Product, and Finance. Align cross-functional leaders around shared priorities and lead the drumbeat to get things done.
  • Lead and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Provide guidance, support, and stretch opportunities for a team of strategy managers and analysts. Build a team culture of curiosity, bias for action, and excellence.
  • Scale Best Practices Across the Business: Identify innovations, playbooks, and process improvements that can be standardized across the org to elevate execution quality and speed.

What You’ll Need For Success

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field is required; Preferred: MBA or master’s degree with STEM designation
  • Professional experience:
  • Required: 6+ years of professional experience, with 2+ years of experience at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or corporate strategy organization.
  • Preferred: Experience in the higher education or edtech sector

This role is fully remote.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
