Director, Liquid Alts Portfolio Services

The Role

The Portfolio Services team within Liquid Alts Investment Services provides critical support to the investment organization to help ensure the integrity of the operational landscape and serve as a primary point of contact for investment professionals. We do this by taking the lead on new product implementation and product updates, troubleshooting problems, addressing business partner inquiries, coordinating cross-company initiatives, and driving efficient business processes.

We are looking for someone who is passionate and motivated with a strong desire to support the investment process on behalf of our customers!  We work alongside investment professionals and key business partners to drive efficiency and bring new products and services to our retail and institutional customers.   The Director of Portfolio Services is a leader who demonstrates the ability to manage complex projects, help triage business issues, establish efficient and effective processes, and maintain relationships across the organization in support of critical strategic priorities. The successful candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate the ability to lead complex initiatives, drive creative solutions, and be highly flexible in an extremely dynamic environment.

  • Coordinate and lead cross-company project teams
  • Manage programs from inception to completion to meet business goals
  • Build & foster strong relationships across multiple internal and external teams (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Treasurer’s Office, Fidelity Fund & Investment Operations (FFIO), Risk, Investment Product, Product Governance, etc.)
  • Partner to develop new alternative investment products (e.g., Arbitrage, Long/Short, Alternative Risk Premia, Multi-Strategy) and collaborate with our distribution partners in Fidelity Brokerage, Fidelity Wealth, Fidelity Institutional (FI), etc.
  • Participate in implementation strategy to enable effective and efficient processes for FAMS products and business functions
  • Perform impact assessments and resolve issues
  • Develop workflow documentation and desktop procedures

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 7-10 years working experience
  • CFA, CAIA or progress towards is preferred
  • Broad-based Fidelity and/or investment industry experience primarily focused on supporting investment processes, including strong knowledge of front-, middle- and back-office investment functions and operations
  • Working knowledge of complex instrument types (e.g., Futures, Options, Equity TRS, CDX, IRS, FX Forwards, Swaptions, etc.) Familiarity with derivative lifecycle events including settlements, collateral, clearing, pricing, and related reference data
  • Strong understanding of different strategy structures or legal wrappers (e.g., mutual funds - 40-Act/81-102, ETFs, hedge funds, limited partnerships, etc.)
  • Strong project-management skills; can think end-to-end about processes and workflows
  • Demonstrated relationship building and influence capabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders

The Team

The Asset Management Compliance, Risk and Business Operations (CRBO) group comprises the following teams: AM Compliance, AM Risk, Business Operations and Strategy, Counterparty Research & Analytics, Investment Services and Strategic Business Initiatives. CRBO is a global organization that is focused on advancing the strategic priorities of Fidelity and Asset Management through innovation, business partner alignment, and building and supporting a culture that challenges the status quo and promotes vitality.  The teams work together to support Asset Management’s strategic goals while being the best partner to the business to protect our clients via proactive compliance monitoring, risk oversight and strategic business planning. The team’s key organizational themes are business partnership and stewardship, modernization and digitization, innovation, and talent development.

The base salary range for this position is $103,000-211,000 USD per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
